Permanent signing in Jan? If so, this would be cracking!

Wasn't he supposed to be the next big england keeper. Never materialised but he has always looked good, been a bit unlucky at fulham. I think if you were to talk to Ipswich fans though I don't think they'd speak too highly of him, they seemed to concede a lot of goals last season. Whether that was Stockdale's fault or not I wouldn't know

You'd get a good keeper there, are you signing him permanently?

Good signing! Hopefully we can buy him in jan, 27 is the perfect age for us to be signing our keeper for possibly the next 5-10 years, having a long term first choice is something we've missed since Bo left, and teams imo definitely fare better with consistency between the sticks, just look at us with Bo or Arsenal with Seaman and Lehman or Man City who have had a complete overhaul but still have Hart in goal.

Dont think he will now. With Oxley injured and Jakupovic deemed not good enough If anything happens to Ben Amos then we are well screwed.
Like Meyler, Stockdale will have to wait to play. All this Amos this and Amos that is nonsense. FFS, we are 4th in the table and how anyone can think Amos is not good enough needs help.

Stockdale was on loan @ Ipswich not long ago but had his loan deal cut short after Mark Schwartzer got injured/. Played a number of games for Fulham in the PL and played for the England U21 from memory. Good signing and better than Oxley and Jakupovic. imo Oxley will go back out on loan when fit again. TWT if this becomes permanant though.

You never know. Meyler has had to wait and i think that Stockdale will as well. Fulham have re-called another of there keepers today by the way with Stockdale going..

You never know. But i do agree that we need at least one keeper who is ours. Since the days of Bo and Duke its been a revolving door with keepers.
I would still like Bo back next season. In the summer Bo becomes a fat.

Stockdale is a great keeper, I would say he is easily as good as Mannone, brilliant signing if it happens.

Problem is, after his last few performances for WBA, I can definitely see them wanting to tie him down to another contract to be a back up in case Ben Foster gets crippled.

We might be 4th but have conceeded.....
I was going to rant until I checked the facts .We are in fourth and have conceded 23.
    Palace have let in 22
    Cardiff 23
    Boro 23

Only Brighton & Leicester in the top half of the league have anything like a solid defence

So tickler, does that logic make Aaron McLean a top 4 quality striker? Or when we were in the premier league did that make dean marney and caleb folan premier league quality?

    You're an old buffoon.

Not a chance, we've brought a Premier League keeper in on loan(our second loan keeper), because our manager self evidently doesn't think the other one is good enough.

He's only with us for a month, he'll start on Saturday and Jakupovic is toast.

I haven't seen him lately, but what I have seen of him in the past I have been impressed, I think he will be a good signing.

If we keep getting players in of this standard then I will become a dedicated Steve Bruce fanboy- a really good goalie and much better than the ones that we have been linked with (the Norwegian and the Aussie). Think our main issue is with Jakupovic too am getting the impression he's not up to our standard.

The main point there is that he will have a decent defence in front of him here.
OLM you are right he will start Sat no question about that.
I hope we keep Amos, he can learn from this season, as a keeper its not all about playing games its how you learn to handle the times you get dropped.

He's training with the team this morning, with the paperwork due to be sorted this afternoon(according to Phil Buckingham).

Have you ever heard a keeper NOT described as "a good shot stopper"?

It's one of those things that every person thinks is special to their club, like "we always make it hard for ourselves", "we are so inconsistent" etc... :p

But anyway, pleased with this signing. Heard good things about him.

Bo Duke? I remember him. bo_duke-char.jpg

    Always preferred Daisy myself. daisy_duke.jpg

Didn't I see somewhere that Amos is carrying an injury? Or is that a smokescreen as a prelude to dropping him?

p.s. don't agree with dropping him UNLESS it was for a permanent replacement. Sure he has made the odd mistake which is always very visible when you are a keeper. Still think he is one of the better ones in the championship though.
