Well they are meant to but I'm only seeing the score, I don't know the teamsheet and so on, I'm guessing someone will shed some light.
I went tonight and the first half we looked solid. They got back in the game at 2-1 but fair play they held on comfortably. Their young lad Marwood looked impressive, he was their creative threat and their centre half ( number 5) also looked solid. Stand out city performer was Emerton, followed closely by Will Aimson. Both Cairney and Hobbs were solid in their roles, but its hard to gauge at that level.
Emms was class tonight. Thought Hobbs played well within himself, looked a bit apprehensive at times. Some good clean headers and a particularly knee-testing block tackle in the penalty area. TC looked a class above (which he should) and moved around the pitch beautifully with some neat touches. 3 well taken goals in a match played with passion and pace.
Yep - reminded me a little bit of a Keith Edwards type of striker. Wiry and strong, not blessed with blistering pace but very aware of where he needs to be. Clarkson showed true class with his brace as well.
Lewis Clarkson reminds me so much of Keith Edwards back in the day. Sharp on to a through ball, the odd loose pass with plenty of running off the ball through and across the defence then clinical in front of goal. he could have easily of had a first half hat-trick, and was unlucky to be ruled offside whilst completing it in the second half from a six yard tap-in. Looks a great prospect at this level. I hope that his development continues. Emerton played well again tonight and I 'd have had him and McCaffrey as MoM. Don't understand the extreme excitement which was mentioned about Aimson. He did ok. Hobbs played about 60 mins and looked like he hadnt really played competitively for 9 months but did well on his comeback. (Steve) Cairney as introduced by Gwylam Lloyd earlier today, played about the last 20 mins and was comfortable on the ball throughout. Nice to see Conor Townsend down watching tonight, although I felt sorry for Paul McAvoy forced to play left-back when we had a good un watching on the sidelines, a young England left back on the bench (Max Clark), and a fit and ready available option pissing it up for his own benefit on Newland Ave! There is definately potential in this 'development squad' and I hope that we can start to bring a few through.
sorry i beg to differ on the edwards analogy. margetts is a great prospect but does a lot more running off the ball than edwards ever did. as i have indicated above, for me, clarkson has more of that look.
Agreed, hopefully he will be back to make an appearance in the FA cup for us. He will do well at Fleetwood, I'd say he was more League One standard. Wonder if we can fix Lewis Clarkson up with a loan? I heard the Gateshead scout on the phone last night, he said "Their number 9 is a real player, got a lot of talent". Maybe he impressed them and can go on and have a Townsend like loan. They could do with a striker after losing Jon Shaw to Luton.
Well Humberside Sports News said he's not going despite interest, but didn't elaborate why he wasn't going. Useful.
