I'm terrified it'll be Rafa and it will be long term. Roman wants him for a reason. he remembers what he did with our bag of **** team and lack of money in Europe putting Chelsea out along the way. British public have been brainwashed about Rafa by a xenophobic press who are now doing the same to AVB. Rafa's record speaks for itself. What he did with Valencia alone against Real and Barca is enough alone to show his talent. I am glad that Chelsea fans will be foolish enough to dismiss Rafa as if you didn't in 2 seasons he would have you winning the league every season and getting to CL finals, perhaps winning them regularly. I'd be beyond devastated if he went to work for Roman for many reasons but mainly because he'd make you the best team in Europe. Chuffed it won't happen and one day he may come back to LFC.
You mean just like AVB who Roman was desperate to get and showed that by the money he spent to bring him in?
What you have to ask yourselves is what I asked myself a few years ago. "Is Glen Hoddle a better manager than George Graham?" So is Benitez a better manager than who you've had in recent years? Would Harry be a better manager than who you've had? Have you given recent managers a chance to show you what they can do? Pep is the obvious choice for you but like AVB has no PL experience and few(not all) Spanish and Portuguese managers have been successful in England ie Ramos. So,who is better than what you've had is a must answer question for you.
Gotta be honest, I'd rather 'Arry than most others available right now. Pep isn't the right man for Chelsea imo.
Raf did nothing with LFC? You're a ****ing clueless twat who obviously doesn't think about what he says. Lets look at FACT niot OPINION and see what Rafa achieved at Liverpool: 1 Champions League with possibly one of the worst teams to ever win it with very little money spent in the greatest UCL Final of all time and has been voted as such. 1 FA Cup in possibly the best ever FA Cup Final. 1 UEFA Super Cup which Chelsea missed out on and was robbed of a World Club Cup by a bent Ref who disallowed 3 goals incorrectly. UCL Runners-Up in 2007 which is an achievement in itself. He also got us to the quarters and semis most seasons too. Had Liverpool in UCL every year bar his final season which he was sacked for. Under his stewardship Liverpool became officially the number 1 rated team in Europe according to UEFAs ranking system. Beat Real Madrid and Barcelona in their own backyard. Narrowly missed out on the PL title in 2008/09 despite scoring the most goals in the league with some of the best attacking football I have ever seen before and since. Had Torres become the greatest Striker in the world at that time and top goalscorer. Finished above the mighty Utd and Chelsea several times despite having a perceived weaker team. And this is without even looking at his record at Valencia. You let your disdain for the man blind your ability to see on paper what the man actually achieved and won. No-one can deny on paper what the man has achived in the game. To do so is to be willfully ignorant and purposefully obstinate.
Lumping 'Arry in the same category as Rafa is an insult to Benitez. Benitez is orders of magnitude above Redknapp in his abilty and in his achievements and standing in the game.
Your as good as your last job, and arry certainly did a better job than fat man. Rafa stunk the place out in his latter years at Pool and had a treble winning Inter side who he still managed to **** up. Nowhere near as good as your harping on about.
Some of the options mentioned on Sky Sports included names like Zola and Grant... you could do worse, to be fair...
i would have rafa in front of appy arry any day, Toela65 makes some very good points about his record at liverpool and his relationship with the press.
steve clarke would be a good choice but it aint going to happen. he will probably take over at united.
I've always thought Rafa as a very good cup manager. Record speaks for itself in the Champions League, won it once, runner up once, one semi final and one quarter final. Don't think that's bad going in 6 seasons in the competition. League wise i'm not so sure though, got close once but aside from that i didn't think his record was too impressive. He hardly set the world alight at Inter either and their squad was unreal. As a temporary appointment until the end of the season i guess we can't really expect much better. I don't fancy it long term though i'll be honest.
First, Rafa has done very little for years now and secondly, we don't like him as a result of his time at Liverpool as much as anything. It's not just people looking at his record. He has a good record but that was a while ago now. However if it's short term pre a pep or jose, would be a better bet than some of the names flying around.
