Unbelievable! Suggests to me that Abramovich never wanted Di Matteo, and that this gave him the excuse to get rid. Fair play to tomw19, called it immediately on the Champions League thread last night! You should have put some money on it!
Very harsh for sure and I do completely agree with all the negativity toward Roman, however would it be seen as such a ridiculous move if he has Guardiola lined up? Seem to remember him recently saying he wanted to come to England and one day manage Chelsea. I do like Benitez though and if (as rumoured) he does come in I think he will do very well with that side. As harsh as it is on Di Matteo I think this was to be expected somewhat...
Perhaps not, but I would be surprised if he had Guardiola lined up. Also Guardiola has only managed one club, who knows how good he really is? After all, I think most managers could win something with Barcelona.
Terry and Lampard are out injured, Chelsea were always going to struggle without them. RA needs to learn a little patience. He's not going to get anywhere with a revolving door approach and who's he going to attract with that kind of attitude anyway.
I was just perusing wiki, and there are only four Premier League managers who have been in their job since before 2009. Three are fairly obvious, the fourth not quite as much. And our Nigel has been at his club the 8th longest, with 8 managers joining their team in 2012. Remember kids, a Premier League manager is for life, not just for Christmas... Or not...
Guardiola has come out andsaid he has been approached by will not cut short his year long sabbatical that he promised his family.
I don't see the point in sacking him now unless they have Mourinho to take over as manager. Considering Guardiola won't take over until the end of the season. I have no idea about Mourinho's current contract and guessing he wouldn't be an option however?
Tell that to Abramovich. He ought to sack himself. He doesn't seem to have the ability to appoint the right people for his timescales. He's the personification of instant gratification. Meanwhile, ManU laugh their football socks off, because they found the right manager in an era where success could be waited for. I'd love Abramovich to have a word in Cortese's ear. I'm sure Nicola would enjoy telling him him to stuff his offer where the sun don't shine..!
I know this is an unpopular viewpoint, but I actually think that this is one of Abramovic's less insane decisions. The insane ones were undermining Ancelotti and sacking Mourinho. If he brings in Benitez now, do you genuinely think the results under him will be equal or worse than would happen under Di Matteo??
I'd be happy to pass on the message TSS, unfortunately I don't find myself in the same social circles as Roman.
Not sure I'd treasure Roman's friendship but to be in that circle I'd surely be a rich twat with money coming out of my arse... Wouldn't mind that!
