So its starting to look really desperate now as we might be adding Tom Parkes to the injury list with a possible fractured ankle things are going from bad to worse but can we put our very poor season down to the amount injuries we've had? If we take a look at the start of the season we had almost a full squad to choose from we lost to Oxford 2-0 who we should of at least got a point, a draw with Barnet was a complete disgrace again a full squad to chose from this was followed by a 3-0 whipping from Morecambe at home then 2-2 against Aldershot again at home, ok we lost 4-0 to top of the league Gillingham but still a hammering a 1-1 draw with Plymouth might of been a good draw some years back and so on................... IMO if we would of picked up all those squandered points from the start of season then it wouldn't look so bad as it does now at least we would of been around mid table or just below. In some ways I do feel sorry for MM with his ever increasing injury list but then again if he would of brought in the players we needed back in the summer and not chasing certain players for all of it then maybe things might of been different.
player of last season was out woodards, kenneth, bevan and bolger injured in his 1st game so not exactly injury free at the start. but cant just be blamed on injuries although that has been a major reason. MM is fully to blame. we were so unprepared for oxford. MM chasing constable for 3 months willing to spend £200k then decide need no striker. all pre season MM played a mixture of 1st team and youths therefore 1st team players not getting enough game time meaning not fit enough and he didnt allow time for the team to gel where never played the same team in pre season. took too long bringing in new faces. keeps playing players out of position. keeps changing tactics and formations. players dont have a clue if they are coming or going. MM has made so many mistakes and the mistakes he has been making the basics he should be getting right. he insisted on playing gill who was struggling with an injury so we were basically carrying him each game and to be carrying a player in CM we would always struggle hense why we are where we are. i do think if he hadnt had as many injuries and therefore had a settled side, tactics and formation playing players in correct positions then we would be higher up the table. but i said it at the time, how bad pre season was, we were always going to struggle. i expected us to improve around game 8. game 8 was exeter away which we won. but we have had the injuries/suspension which hasnt allowed MM to get the side where it should be. but even with the injuries, MM has lost us points by certain selections and positions he plays players in.
Would there be any point in sacking MM though as a new manager would still have the same problems they he has. He has to bring in players in January the board will have no choice but to put there hands in there pockets so we can bring in new faces we need to take the chance and break the ban as relegation will cost us a whole more.
we are up to our limit apparently but if we get rid of players that will free up money to use. unless we get more loans who wont cost anything in wages.
Etheridge gone frees up room for another player to come in? And hopefully Bolger back shortly? I can't quite reach that straw that I'm trying to clutch!
BB with Etheridge gone we end up with a goalkeeper who frankly was not good enough when Etheridge was here why on earth would he be better now he was leaking goals like a sive (not all his fault defence midfield etc) Some of the players we have are frankly not good enough look at Rhiordan what a joke swans around the pitch and is just here for the money harsh but is he really bothered MM needs to play a real midfielder in his position. Definately put some of the players on the transfer list immediately to free monies to be spent elsewhere. I am starting to lose my patience with this cobbled together team many playing out of position with absolutely no heart. I will start a new thread on who should go and who should stay. COR
