I expect a solid win this week as we look to secure our passage to the next round. I'm therefore going for 3-1.

I'll be there but I know a few people that aren't going because of the rubbish that's been served up in the league recently.

Have to say I'm not fussed about this game, it's all about the league for me at the moment. We should field as weak a team as possible and just focus the week on the Southampton game. Maybe not the most professional approach but we should be able to field a full second string team and should still have enough in the locker to win this one.

I suppose we all have choices on the matter but if I weren't stuck on the motorway heading back up North I'd deffo be there as there's always something very special about European nights.

Fingers crossed indeed. Which area are you sitting in?

Aren't you treating JPF to a ticket too?

Seems there's quite a few regs not going. I hope the atmosphere is good enough to get your friend going to more games. A good win to whet her appetite.

I'm just on the other side of the goal from you.

Why leave Obertan out? He needs these sorts of games if he's ever gonna get any good. He's not good enough to start in our first team in the PL, simple as.

We don't have to win vs Maritmo, but it's a good opportunity to play players who need the game time, and Obertan needs all the game time he can get.

    I'd personally play -

    ----------Shola------------

    Ferguson---Marv-----Obertan

    ------Bigi------????---------

    ????---Colo-----Good-----Tav

    -----------Elliot---------------

I wouldn't play Tiote or Anita, but who comes after them if Cabaye and Perch are both our?

Plus I'd rest Santon, and play Tav RB, so who plays LB? Dummett is out on loan, isn't he?

Play Fergie at LB, Marv at LW, and put Abeid in that CAM slot that's become free.

Newcastle play the penultimate game of their Europa League group stage on Thursday, knowing that victory over the Portuguese League side from the island of Madeira will guarantee their place in the first knockout round of the competition next February.

Kick-off is at 8.05pm and tickets remain on public sale. Details of cash turnstiles will follow.

Squad: Fabricio Coloccini is available to play although still suspended domestically, while fellow countryman Jonas Gutierrez is expected to return from injury.

Papiss Cisse is anticipated to start, while Shola Ameobi and Steven Taylor will both make their 200th NUFC starts in all competitions, if selected. Demba Ba meanwhile is one appearance away from completing his half century.

Missing are Adam Campbell, Ryan Taylor, Dan Gosling, Haris Vuckic, James Perch, Yohan Cabaye, Xisco and Gabriel Obertan but Steve Harper is back in training.

Nile Ranger is registered for this competition (with squad number 30) but remains outside Alan Pardew's thoughts due to ongoing club disciplinary issues.

Ranger did join first team training ahead of the Swansea game, but that was in a week when many players were out injured and on international duty and the numbers were boosted by Ranger and various youngsters.

    Selected PP Match odds:
    Newcastle to win 1-0 @ 5/1

CSM: Since holding us to a scoreless draw on Madeira, Maritimo have lost four of their six domestic league games, winning just once and drawing the other one.

Ahead of their first-ever visit to St.James' Park, Saturday saw them safely negotiate a potentially tricky tie in the Portuguese equivalent of the FA Cup, winning 3-0 at fourth tier side Aguiar da Beira.

Going to be interesting to see what team Pards puts out, whether he wants a win or is just going to go through the motions and concentrate on our position in the league.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in the game and there's still loads of tickets left. Can't see there being many more than 20,000 there.
