We are best togther as a group to wallow in our collective beel. Doubtless our fellow fans in Lisbon are wrecking the town as we speak, however that is the mark of our fans which distinguishes us from the walking dead of Govan, we have the good grace to trash the city after a defeat.

Disappointed in the goals we lost, thought we could have defended both of them.

I also don't expect much from barca v benfica, as barca will rest most of their players.

Yes. Matthews should have put the ball in the stands and Wilson shouldn't have ball watched.

Very harsh on both of them though as both are on their wrong sides and both did fairly well.

I maintain that Lustig was great again.

Hard to believe that tims are swallowing tHis crap that rfc wontheBTC. the club was prove to have tax liabilities, so the liability was not as great as HMRC claimed, but for 35......35 players they were proven to have evaded tax. HMRC will chase the players, which suits them.

As to the really really important dual contracts case, the ruling here, particularly para 161 strengthens SPL case against them. The side letters and payments due by the 35, 35 yes 35 players will probably, if there is justice and no fear of repercussions of an uncivil manner mean stripping of tItles.

Cannot believe RM where SEVCONIAN think they have won the dual contracts case. They still don't get it. ThIs finding increases the likelihood of losing the dual contracts case.

FFS READ PARA 161.........READ WHAT IT SAYS. IT CLEARLY INDICATES THAT THE SPL MUST FIND RFC GUILTY AND THWT TITLES SHOULD BE STRIPPED, ALTHOUGH NOT USING THAT EXACT WORDING

A team with nothing to play for on holiday mode...... could go one of two ways.

    I can't second guess it.

Either way, we are taking it to the last day. guaranteed Europe next year and I think Benfica would swap places with us if they had the chance.

after the draw was made, i would have been delighted to get euro football after christmas. i am still happy that it is guaranteed but there will be a tinge of disappointment if we do not go through to the last 16. having said that benfica were much better than us today and i would have no complaints if they qualified ahead of us

hooper was dreadful and should have came off.

looks like broony is gonna have his op and will be out for a couple of months

The Hooper conundrum raises its head again.

It was a tough shift again for him. He does need to be top shape to be truly effective. That said, he was a linesmans flag away from being a hero.

Benfica stopped the ball at source for nearly the full 180 mins. That made it very tough. It suited lads like Watt coming in and getting shots away but that isn't really Hoopers game.

i like hooper, but he needs to be firing on all cylinders. if he is not he is next to useless. his touch was pish poor. i understand why lenny left him on but personally i think he should have came off at half time.

i agree that benfica played well both in attack and defence. i was disapointed that we did not test the keeper at all and our ball retension was very ordinary

    It's out of our hands.

No matter what we do, CL qualification is out of our hands - a Benfica win in Barca means we're out.

    ^^

That would be the pessimist's view.

However, we're guaranteed, at least, Europa football after Christmas which we all agreed was the aim of a pot 4 team in a quality group in the first place.

Also, our performances have brought a massive amount of pride back to the support. We've lost two out of five CL games - away in the "Da Luz" and the Nou Camp and won two with one at home to play.

I don't think we're going to qualify - we might not even beat Spartak but I reckon Benfica will get the result they need.

    If we do, bonus <ok>

If we don't, we've got a run in the Europa League to look forward to and no-one will relish playing us.

The view from the Optimist's Couch is fairly healthy.

Can't agree there bib. I think we'll qualify.

A club like Barca are under pressure to win every game. They won't want to lose two games in what is to them, an average group and certainly wont want to lose at the Nou Camp. I think they'll do Benfica regardless of the team they play.

A point should be enough against Spartak, although I think we'll beat them.
