In the first half we weren't that bad tbh and had we scored then the second half would have been different. Shocking in the second half though. Defence needs work. We need a striker... We also really need to work on our crossing as we were hopeless today. They deserved the win though and congrats to them.

Win against Nordsjaelland and a Shakhtar win against Juventus puts us through. It's not all over but looking bleak. The Europa League Final is in Amsterdam... not all bad!

  3. Do you now think that RDM will be gone by the New Year?

And if so, will you accept that I was correct in my pre-season prediction that the race was always between Roy Rodgers and RDM as to whom would be the first high-profile manager to get the boot?

I agree tbh... Thursday nights, in Amsterdam... Play the reserves in the Europa League and focus on the League and a Champo League spot.

You need a quality striker and a replacement for Terry.

    Then you're sorted.

Completely agree... Luiz isn't reliable. Get someone in who is reliable to partner Ivanovic/Cahill. The get Fellaini to replace Mikel. And then Falcao up front. Yes it would be a dream for that to happen but if it did then we would have the best team in Europe imo.

No matter what happens you will be wrong, because there hasn't been the slightest hint of pressure on Brendan Rodgers. The same cannot be said for AVB, with most THFC fans calling him to leave, including yourself. The race for the sack is between Hughes and AVB, though I would concede the point if you wanted to claim that AVB is not a "high-profile" manager.

No strikers? Well RDM aint no Guardiola although I think we already knew that. Can't understand why RDM took such a big risk trying out something totally new in such an important game.

I still think Shaktar have a good chance of beating Juventus but there's always a danger that both sides going through with a draw will take the sting out of the game.

We dont deserve to go through. Shaktar and Juve deserve to go through to the knock-out stages and it would be unfair on them if we took one of their places.

    On the actual match:

    1) Cahill was abysmal.
    2) Why are we doing high crosses into the box when all our attackers are midgets?
    3) I love the guy but Mata is too slow on the counter.
    4) I have no idea what RDM was thinking with his selections. Why not play Moses upfront and Hazard RW?

Agree, but to be fair I think Sturridge would've played if fit.

Our weaknesses were really shown up tonight. We were utterly hopeless in MIDFIELD in terms of control. Mikel was terrific, 90% accuracy in his passing. Ramires goes and goes, but boy does he give the ball away !! He is absolutely not the answer there, and we continue to be completely devoid of any control in midfield.
Our attacking trio of Mata, Hazard and Oscar look good as usual, Azi is promising, but we have no STRIKER. The midgets we play up front get shunted from pillar to post, and get scraps from the MIDFIELD. Lots of promise ,but not the complete article.
At the back Cole was dreadful, and I think we have seen the best of him at this level. No bombing runs, slow to get the ball forward, out of position all night, Juve had a racetrack down his flank. he also simply cannot hold the ball nor pass to a team mate. Dreadful ball control is a virus that effects most of our team and Juve made us look like a pub team with their control, passing and heading in defence.
Luiz was our best defender, followed by Cahill, then Brana and Cole in last place. Cech was magnificent.
Can't see too many trophies coming our way unless and until we get a world class midfielder and striker. Time to think about replacements for Cole, and Brana, Torres, Lampard and Terry. We can't afford to lose all our experience at once, so unless some youngsters step up, it's back to the chequebook.

Yeah you'd be pretty close for sure. Not far off a very good team.

    Falcao - £40 mill
    Fellaini - £15 mill
    A centre back - £15

    Not that much money.

I hope you guys do go through, otherwise another big spending spree in January is due and you'll probably end up with Falcao, Fellaini and Willian :(

  15. Huh?

I said, right before this season began, that the first high-profile manager to get the sack will be either Roy Rodgers or RDM.

'Pool have had their worst start to a league campaign in over 100 years, and RDM has fallen far short of what your mad-dog Russian oligarch manager expects for his money. Both are clearly still in the frame. My money, now, is on RDM getting the sack before Roy Rodgers, and I reckon that Guardiola could be in place by the New Year.

If I am right on either score, then, quite clearly, I have been correct.

Shout me down as much as you like, but you are running away from a very basic truth: the European Champions were made to look like chumps tonight, and the mad Russian will not be pleased.

Or do you think he will suddenly have grown a heart, after all these years?

The sad thing is... Juventus winning 3-0 was a fair result... we showed no grit and determination. But we are in a transition period and it will take time

Only one of those exists and the other has not even hinted at getting the sack yet. So don't bother trying to cash in your betting slip any time soon.

    Liverpool fan in peace

To be honest I thought RDM and Chelsea in general showed Juve too much respect. They are a good side, but on paper you should be getting a result against them. Chelsea vastly underperformed tonight.

I can't agree IncRED. Juve came back from 2-0 down at Chelsea to be denied a win by the woodwork so it seemed fairly obvious to me that they'd win tonight.

I think the tactics were all wrong tonight to be honest.

Azipelcueta as a RWB away against Juventus in a must not lose game in the Champions League was never a good decision.

Di Matteo should have put Ivanovic and Cahill as the CB pairing, Cole and Azipelcueta either side of them.

Mikel and Ramires as the two CDM's, the three musketeers and Sturridge up front, of course Sturridge was injured so in that case it should have been Moses.

We should have set up to tighten up and break on the counter attack. Bad tactics and a better overall performance from Juve cost us tonight, and cost us big.
