Maybe that's who Tony F. thought he was (gettit - F1 ?). Sorry Penguin, couldn't resist it given that said Tony takes more interest in motors than he does football. The guy is naiive to say the least.

But, I do agree with your comments about Hughes.

I don't understand why he was so highly-rated in the first place. He's looked tactically inept everywhere he's gone; he doesn't even attend every training session! He did alright with Blackburn but that's it. He was ok for us but only when he reverted back to Roy's old system.

I can't understand why he is highly rated either. As you say he hasn't achieved anything as a manager - fortunately for us he took over a good experienced team who managed themselves, after his ideas did not work.

Robbie Savage bigs him up all the time and it so annoys me. He's a championship manager at best but as you say he'll go abroad next as no one will have him and all the hanger ons now. I actually feel a bit sorry for QPR. If they go down then I hope there is money left to start over again.

Word on the street is that after yesterday's 'show down' meeting, Hughes has got 4 games to prove himself. They are:

    Man Utd (away)
    Sunderland (away)
    Aston Villa (home)
    Wigan (away)

The game after that is a home game (on 8th December) against guess who ? .... Fulham

You can see it happening can't you. They lose them all, Hughes gets the push and then, for the first game with the new manager (or at least without the old one), they play like men inspired and rack up their first win of the season. Hopefully not, but Sod's Law if it did.

I was going to say the same!

At this point I'm not that bothered; their pre-season premature gloating has been well and truly rammed right up their silly hooped arses by their last 12 games, if we lost to them it would be like charity on our part.

No way, as they say "charity begins at home" and so far as I'm concerned we've done our bit with the "Makkems revival".

Digressing a tad but sticking on charity, did you see that the sale of the team's Poppy Shirts (worn in the Arsenal match) raised over £7,200 for the British Legion. Berba's went for a whopping £1800.

I laughed aloud on the train when I read this comment "‘We have to get the right mentality to move us forward – and maybe the right players"

Maybe the right players? You've literally just bought them! I reckon he wants another blank cheque and a new start.

He never got over what happened at City- Mancini's subsequent success must make it harder for him. Delighted that we now have Jol and respect to AlF for not giving Hughes money to burn. Dembele was a great signing- but people who mention Kompany seem to overlook the fact that every football game had him marked as a star long before City snapped him up.

Did you know that Fernandes is a lifelong West Ham fan?

Mark Hughes has the biggest ego in premiership management. He claims to have taken us to our highest finish in the prem, but as Bidders said he only did so when he reverted back to Woy tactics. That team could have managed itself, oh come to think of it, it did manage itself. The illusive MH was holed up in his office doing F all. If he ever wants to succeed he needs to do his stint in the lower leagues, hang on though he probably will be doing just that next year with HA's !!! I hope they keep him and finish with less points than Derby did.

Really?! Because he bloody well didn't, Woy took us to 7th a couple of seasons before, a place higher than we finished with Sparky!

Are we sure he didn't say it though? He did after all claim it was his management that molded Dembele into the player he is now.

Ah well, the pressure of 'Arry's agent running the Ukraine story and the lure of next year's TV money has proved too much for Tony Fernandes and the Mittals. Hughes has been sacked. The BBC reported -

Sacking Hughes + Hiring Harry = a shedload of money. Lucky that they have it to burn- just a shame Hughes isn't there to buy our squad players, might have got £10m for Sidwell

Shame - I don't know what the fuss has been about really, he seemed to be doing a good job from what I could see.

If he'd been sacked last week then there was a vacancy at Chelsea. Just his luck !
