No point in being grumpy about it...WHU are where we would like to be. We like our style of play, but it's up to the team to show that it is also effective.
Aye but we're 1/2 of the way to safety as 38 points will probably be enough to stay up so every point picked up is a bonus. With all this hard run talk, Man City and Newcastle were put into that hard run and we picked up 4 points there. This thread is going to haunt you Trixter.
I see you gaining 7 points at most during those games. Do yourself a favour and look at the two teams next seven after those where we will quite probably open up the gap again.
Na it'll be fine mate. The gap will close a bit but will soon open up again. They've gotta do more than beat QP ****ing R before they get too cocky!
Ha ha! Amazing how a win has made you all so confident! Yeah I have no problem with that. Don't look at the next seven for both our sides though, look at the next 14. How about a bet? If we finish the season above you, you give £10 to the Bobby Moore Fund. If you finish above us, I will give £20(given our head start) to a charity close to your club. Screenshot of receipt needed. Whaddya say Lambo?
I don't think many of us expect to catch you. We're not being cocky about that. We are just being cocky about the magic dust Fat Sam has sprinkled on the West Ham fans who were bemoaning his style of play until the last few games of last season and this season seem to have settled for it this season. No doubt in my mind we will finish behind you BUT we'll be entertained on the way. I have some confidence (not 100% of course) that we will survive though HOOOOOOOOFFFF, headed out by HUTH. lol
I think you are mistaken. There was a lot of frustration last season where teams would come to Upton park and sit back and play for a draw from the start. It was all going fine up until March then we went on a run of 5 draws against teams we should have been beating which ultimately cost us the title. fans grew impatient during that spell but there were very few calling for Allardyce to be sacked. This season he has bought very well on areas we were weak. Jarvis, Benayoun, Diame and Carrol have made us a completely different team. No magic dust. Just good signings and decent performances and 100% effort. That's all we ask for as fans and Sam is delivering. And did you actually watch the game last night? I don't think either side hoofed it any more than Everton or Newcastle do for example. In the main we got it wide and played some decent stuff at times in amongst the inevitable occasional long balls.
I always knew this thread was a risk given the run of fixtures both teams have coming up. It was always a bit tongue in cheek but also a bit of fun in response to the hoof insults. I will bump this thread up once the bet is decided win or lose. And I too will be gracious in victory or defeat. lets just hope we are both safe and sound by the time one of us pays out
I agree, 2nd half you got the ball down on the deck and played some good football. I think Allardyce realised that Stoke were outmuscling them and they needed a plan B. That back line of Huth and Shawcross is just plain brutal!
Yeah, you're right. It was really frustrating going to Upton Park last season and having to try to break down the team sitting back and hanging on for a draw ....
All banter aside, i've always had a soft spot for the happy Hammers and the Premier League is better with them in it...I had a mate who was working away in Basildon in the 80s and went to a couple games at Upton Park with him and some Hammers lads who, despite their fearsome reputation, were really a great laugh...Good Luck for the rest of the season Trixter, Brooking et al, i'm rooting for both of our clubs to stay where we belong.
I think you are right about that trixter and to be fair there aren't many people who would call West Ham's start anything other than excellent. Good players were brought in and most of them could probably be described as "Premier League battlers", replacing Green with Jussi also a very good move, Jarvis I am sure was worth the £10m. That made a mid table quality squad and throw in the well organised team, game plan and little bit of luck that comes with stability, there's no reason that West Ham couldn't do well. The whole West Ham long ball, Saints like Brazil thing is probably overdone, but still the best thing about football is that conflicting styles can both be effective. Anyway I'm still confident that we can join them above that dotted line in the next few weeks, not just because we beat the bottom team but all the positive signs that we saw in the games before that. And if any of the top half teams want to beat those around us I would not complain too much.
