Glad Puncheon is getting the recognition he deserves for his performance. Several others could have been included, Shaw being the main one. I can understand Rickie's exclusion because Suarez and Long were outstanding this weekend. This is what he said for Clyne: Clyne makes my team of the week for the second time this season. On Saturday he made a superb recovery after losing the ball down QPR's right flank. He immediately won it back and also provided the final pass for Jason Puncheon. Excellent. This kid can play. Puncheon: How ironic. Neil Warnock suggested when in charge of QPR that Jason Puncheon wasn't good enough to play in the Premier League. Well, after analysing his recent display against his old club I can say that not only did the former QPR man show that he was good enough, but he also provided far more grit, courage and ability than the players who were bought to replace him at Loftus Road. He scored one and provided two assists in an outstanding display for Southampton.
Well deserved.....but as you say, Luke should be in there as well. Can't quite believe how well that young man has stepped up. Five year contract please NC.
Nice for the lads to be getting a bit of recognition, generous giving Puncheon two assists on top of his goal though, he had the blocked shot leading to Lambert's, and the pass to Morgan before his cross was deflected in, but those wouldn't count as assists by any means.
The first one would. His shot was blocked on the line and Rickie headed in. That counts as an assist for me. Morgan provided the assist for the 3rd goal of course.
I think a lot of people would count the first but most official things don't unfortunately for Punch!
Oh well, I'm sure he doesn't mind as he scored one of the goals of the weekend (I would say 2nd behind Sessegnon).
Some sites will still have that down as an assist. Although most detailed stats sites won't. It's an assist as far as I'm concerned both for Puncheon on the first and Schneiderlin on the third.
I thought Clyne was man of the match with Puncheon very close. Having picked three Norwich players he no doubt avoided picking three Saints players. I don't think I'd have had another Saints player in my team of the week, only those 2.
I was at the match and Puncheon was MOTM by quite a margin. He was sensational on the day. He tore the QPR LB to shreds.
Well it comes down to personal preference of whether to go for the best attacker or best defender on show. Rather than stating your opinion as fact
