I've been looking at the stats for this season and it seems we're improving! We've played 12 games so let's look at four games at a time.............the first four games we conceded 14 goals. Yep, read em and defo weep. But the next four games we conceded 10. 4 less, that's better. And the last four games we've conceded 6 goals. Even better! So in the next four games, I expect us to concede only 2. And we're still scoring well so once we've started conceding less than we're scoring we'll be pushing for Europe in no time! Ok, ok, maybe no push for Europe but the stats don't lie, the defence looks like it's starting to close it's holes. Let's hope, eh?! COYR!!
2 goals in 4 games? I'm going to fall asleep dreaming of that tonight! I really, really, really hope this happens!
Never have I wanted a clean sheet more.......well not since I was 17 living in a dirty little flat with a pretty awesome first love......but seriously, please don't conceed any more goals in November, that would be freaking ace.
I'll probably be the same except my dream will be more... damp. 2 goals just in the Liverpool and Newcastle games would be a huge accomplishment. 2 goals each would probably be pretty decent too haha. I think we're starting to improve, and our opposition is starting to get weaker, combine the two and hopefully we'll get some results which will only help improve us further in terms of confidence which can be the foundation of so much for a team at any level. I've been saying it for weeks but from the Swansea game until January would and will be huge for us, if we can put together a run, we can get the team functioning as a Premier League unit and it will be much more comfortable. If we still lose 4 or 5 of our next 7, it will be an uphill battle all the way until the end.
With the first four games We were bound to concede plenty, Man u, Arsenal and man city.., But after that the stats dont lie.. apart from a poor result again west ham. Soo We look to be quite well organised and solid.. Its just getting a settled back 4 and stopping the silly mistakes.. But i can see us start pushing up now!
Our bad start was compounded by playing top sides and appears worse because of the Arsenal result. It wasn't helped by injuries, especially in defence where we have little depth, and Cork has been missing since preseason. We have reached a point where we have a full squad and are playing bottom/middle teams. This is where we have to show our credentials, but I think we will have to keep the faith because I can see us swirling around at the bottom for a few games...the penalty for allowing that gap to appear.
It seems like everybody had an awesome first love, the one they let get away. Or do we all just long for something we haven't got any longer as Joni Mitchell once sang. My sheets were also dirty back then though 10 years on and they aren't much cleaner and not for the same reasons unfortunately.
