..which gives us an excellent chance to secure some league points and make progress in the Cup. There are no easy games, every one will be a battle. But with home advantage and the team playing well it's an excellent chance to make progress: 25 Nov - Liverpool (H) 28 Nov - WBA (H) 1 Dec â Arsenal (A) 8 Dec â Norwich (H) 12 Dec â Middlesborough (H) (Cup) 16 Dec â Spurs (A) 23 Dec â Man U (H) If we can get points in the bag it allows the team to play a lot more freely later on in the season, rather than be looking over our shoulders.
I see 9 or 10 points there, which will be about right for half way through the season! Liverpool I want all three points, next Sunday...................
I counted 8pts before I read your comment so close to your prediction, looks like all the Jacks still have realistic expectations which is nice and down to earth. One game at a time...
who knows what we will end up with!! the premier league this season is already throwing up a few shocks and the form team Mancity only scraped past us at home ! newcastle away was 1pt and southampton was 3pts it turned out the other way around, i think if the players keep progressing and laudrup keeps on learning then we can suprise a few people, the only problem i have is with the teams in the lower half !! Norwich is a team that have had our number so it would be nice to redress the balance there. Arsenal away isnt that daunting for us, they were so lucky to beat us last year up there thanks to a vorm error, i feel with our new team we will create more problems for the bigger clubs, Arsenal is a possible draw or victory !!
The hard ones there will be West Brom (on fire right now) and Man Utd. Spurs and Arsenal aren't at their best and I fully expect us to beat Liverpool
Whats the betting we beat WBA but lose against Norwich! Would take 6 points out of those 2 plus the Liverpool game. So I am going for 8 points out of the 6 league games. That would give us 24 pts from 18.
You know, this is anybody's guess. At our worst (Villa, Everton, Southampton) we would be lucky to get 3 or 4 points. At our best, we could pillage 10 or 12 points. This team is really starting to develop as the players get to grips with each other and the system and I can honestly say that I don't fear any of those fixtures. We do need to keep focused and put in the work rate as well but we have the opportunity in the next few weeks to accumulate some points, eradicate the fear of relegation and set ourselves up for a serious tilt at the top eight places. But we have to get rid of these Jekyll and Hyde performances. After three really good games we went to Southampton and played like a relegation team. If we can find consistency somewhere near the top of our game, we can have a season that few of us can truthfully have predicted. The next transfer window is vital. If we can add quality depth to the squad, we will be flying. A point about JdG, though. We have him on loan anyway until the end of the season, so why spend funds on securing his signature when they could be used to buy in other extra quality? We can go for JdG at the end of the season when his contract with Villa Real is even shorter and when transfer fees are historically lower than they are in January. Real might be even more desperate for cash by then and we could get him on the cheap.
Do not underestimate our reformed and much improved defence lads. If you can breech it then you will probably deserve to win but as you may have noticed in recent weeks we are not giving goals away for fun anymore It's going to be an interesting battle again this year.
