Has to be a tall joke in there, sikship. What's worried me most this season has been Hangeland's distribution, especially his clearance headers which always seem to go straight to the opposition. Normally, distribution is one of his strengths (even why some said he was ideal for Arsenal !) and I honestly think that's where most of the "poor this year" type of comment comes from. Don't know the reason or the answer. That said we are shipping more goals than usual. Bit like the late 50s when Johnny Haynes said he couldn't understand why we could score over a hundred goals and not be higher up the League, until someone pointed out that we'd let in 120.
Well, would you credit it !? Sparky is reported to be ready to 'pounce' with a £9m bid for Brede - http://www.clubcall.com/fulham/brede-bid-to-come-from-hughes-1492853.html Actually, probably I wouldn't. Although the article is correct about their flaky defence, they've conceded 4 more than us !
More likely 6mil,but, wow, that would leave MJ with about 30mil in our transfer pot. If true with that money,we could buy a couple of top class defenders. But there again would you let Sparky spend that sort of money with his transfer record. Please Martin no more talk about the Archavins & Bents.
Honestly, I'd take £9m for Brede without too much issue. However, as with Dempsey, if Brede leaves I'd like him to go somewhere bigger than us rather than sideways or down.
Sounds like lazy journalism; it's no secret Sparky wants a centre back, QPR have money to spend, Brede once played under MH, Brede's contract talks have stalled. Admittedly it's not unbelievable, but I'll need quotes to believe it.
We are being linked with Porto's Fernch U21 centre back Eliaquim Mangala. Supposedly for around £3m. http://www.transfermarketweb.com/?action=read&idsel=110596&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Probably more likely the story is the result of an enquiry not a bid. But I guess the point is that we are apparently beginning to look to the future. Which doesn't, of course, mean an imminent departure of Hangeland.
Another club rumored to be in the hunt for Hangaland SPURS. Whats your opinion lads, a straight swop for Walker, or Dawson, or take the cash
Hmm, my immediate reaction was 'cash'. On reflection, definitely not Dawson but Walker most teams would take. Can't see it happening though (mainly because of wages) and we'd still need a centre back. Anyway I'm quite happy with Riether for now, especially with the likes of Brister and/or Grimmer in the offing from the U21s. So, 'cash'
It sounds as though the Club are going to give Hangeland an ultimatum, "sign by January, or we'll sell you" - http://www.eatsleepsport.com/Fulham/Cottagers-plan-Hangeland-talks-1496228.html
The article says he will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with 'a foreign club' in January (when he enters the last 6 months of his contract). Does that mean he can't sign a similar agreement with a British club at that point? If so, that's news to me - I thought in the final six months you could agree to sign for anyone.
I was under that impression too. I like the stance given by the club, in that we are not allowing ourselves to be pushed around ala the Dempsey situation. If Brede wants out, which I honestly doubt he does, then we need to shift ASAP. There is no room for sentiment here.
It looks as though Brede has nominated his succesor (only joking !) Jol has asked him about fellow Norwegian Centre Back 24 year old Vegard Forren and while Brede's reponse was positive, he does point out that it was Jol who had spotted the player - http://www.football411.com/story/0,22162,14287_8246287,00.html
Brede has found himself in another spot of bother. Jol is not happy that Brede 'leaked' our interest in Forren to the press. Jol told reporters -
I hope he hasn't crossed the big Man. Brede will do well to keep his head down, get into a bit of form and sign the bloody contract now!
Signed. His lack of concentration is clear this season which in comparison with the style of play has contributed to poor performances.
I don't really how this works so far as the transfer rules are concerned, but tonight several norwegian newspapers claim Forren is on a medical with a Premier League club. No one can confirm what club it is, but Tv2 claim that it is Everton he is visiting. Certainly David Moyes has been spotted, watching him no less then two times. Against Hungary and FC Copenhagen. Just for the record, Forren is a big, lanky CB who likes going forward and his distribution is excellent (very, very similar to the Brede Hangeland that we know (knew?) and loved). He has played in the Europa League with Molde who have been Norwegian champions for the two last couple of years. He was brought in to solve Norway's problems in defense, alongside Brede, and was man of the match in Norway's 1-1 away against Switzerland.
Did you know? Fulham have taken 1.46 points per game with Brede Hangeland in the team this season but only 0.33 without him. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20658132 Very interesting... Not that we didn't know.
Not surprising. We had the 3 score draws vs Reading, Everton, Arsenal, all with Brede, then just one point from Sunderland, Stoke, Chelsea, Spurs in the 3¾ matches without Brede. If we’d not won this week, the Current Form Table of 8 matches would have had us down with QPR on 4 points! That's the past blip - now onwards and upwards!
