Our defence is a bit of a mystery this season. All of the individuals are playing well, but as a whole we are conceeding far too many goals and at important points in games. Birmingham was a good example, we should have taken the opportunity of a great start to crush them, but it's almost like the team get carried away when we go ahead and forget their defensive duties.
Hopefully we can get the same back 3 playing together week in week out so we can get some consistency
Think koren is coming on well as a captain, shouting and getting involved a lot more. Did anyone see him when we conceded that 2nd half free kick right on the edge of our box on Saturday? He was going absolutely apeshit, jumping round swinging his arms about having a huge tantrum and giving half our players a good ticking off.
According to Chester after they scored their 2nd goal just after half time, the defense did get their act together, and showed that they can defend if necessary, and he said he enjoyed that 2nd half. However agree they need to get some consistence, and not give away cheap goals.
If they can keep their heads screwed on for the rest of the season, a top 6 spot should be in the bag for sure. Anything more would depend on form (look at Reading last season, they came from nowhere!) and any additions in Jan.
Blackburn seem to be finally getting their act together, they could certainly put a run together and be up there soon.
I can't really remember Hobbs being very vocal as a captain, playing centre back and being tall isn't all you need to be a good skipper.
I told you he was decent Although I do think it goes like this Pearce > Peltier > Lees > Bruce But I wouldve kept him
Warnock plays him at centre back, hard to believe Leeds fans are saying he'd be their fourth choice considering where they are in the league without him and where we are with him. It's obviously got a lot to do with losing players like Snodgrass but surely they can't argue that any of our better performing players aren't as good as their underperforming lot
At the last home game, Alex Bruce was nearly sick in front of where I sit. He was doubled over retching and gasping. I thought "just you ****ing dare", and then the 2nd half kicked off, so he had to stop being so dramatic and get playing. Disgust averted. I don't mind if it's just a load of dry-heaves, and he's playing well. I still haven't seen him blow chunks, so I have no reason to criticise. Also, he's brave as ****. T'other week when he had to go off after a 50/50 collision, the thump from the challenge was pretty nasty. Happened, again, right in front of me. I thought he'd broke his leg at first, but he tried to play on, and I thought that was admirable. He was also NOT sick after this incident, so I had to double my praise. Is Steve Bruce sick a lot? OLM, perhaps you could confirm, as I understand you're near the dugouts? Is his technical area swimming with puke, or does he show no symptoms of the condition suffered by his son? Maybe it's hereditary, I don't know. I just really want to get to the bottom of it so he can be cured.
I can confirm that dad does not suffer the same affliction as junior. Though to be fair, he's not actually playing.
He does shout a lot though. I thought he might shout so hard that it makes some vomit come out. Glad to hear not! Thanks.
