So long as Wanyamma doesn't get booked, would hate to lose him for the last group game. Unless we are through then I hope he gets booked and serves a ban before the knockout stages.
2-0 Benfica, and us to sneak it in the last game against Spartak with a draw, while Barca beat both of them. That would qualify us with 8 points wouldn't it?
Nil nil bore draw. That'll do rightly..... Please. Although i have visions of losing a goal to a crossed ball.... No idea why. It just sits there in my head.
This game is going to be amazingly difficult. Neil Lennon was able to set up the team which if it was going to restrict the number of chances Barca got. This is going to be harder as Benfica have a large range of attacks and can strike in many different way. eg We were not over worried about Barca getting corners because they hadn't the target men to send the ball into. We have to be on our guards at all times against this lot and I have no doubt we will get alot more of the ball against Benfica then against Barca and might just match the home result.
Ah'm no dignifying that wi an answer.... *huff* I always hate this CL bit. Usually find myself confused as all get oot about whether we're through or not, or in the Europa or just ****ed. There's always some smart arse in the pub, "So if we get a draw we're through?" "Naw. Well, it depends oan the Spartak result. If they get a score draw an we go goalless then we're oot. But if they win and we lose then we'll be tap of the group, unless Man U draw against Sunderland next Sunday. If we lose by more than 3 goals then Spartak go through because of the coefficient, but if we lose by exactly 4 goals then St Mirren go through, Barca drop into the Euro cup and Noel Edmonds will host the final in his back garden"
I think we all know Celtic are punching above their weight in this competition. I am not one for making predictions, but it would be sickening if the defeat of Barcelona counted for nothing in the end.
I just think i am being truthful, others are predicticting defeat against Benfica so i guess there are a few sunbeams on here. as well as a few moonbeams.
2-0 benfica. They are a better side than they showed at celtic park. I'd love to be wrong.....but as usual I won't be
2-2 sammy both. They score first, two for the hoops they get a late one. Benfica are howling, the young bhoys have it in their sights. Cant believe the lack of trust in Neill.
We're 6/1 with Paddy Power. The draw is 3/1 and Benfica are odds on (cannae remember - 5/16 or something) Hoopster - as long as we don't lose to Spartak on matchday 6, we're in the Europa. Considering how we all predicted the group to go, that would be more than a lot expected We might not win or get the point but I know we'll go all out for it - Lennon's tactics have been spot on in every game but teams will no longer under-estimate us. This is going to be a cracker tonight.
Celtic have injury concerns over one of their key players ahead of Tuesday's Champions League Group G match with Benfica at the Stadium of Light. Manager Neil Lennon says only two out of captain Scott Brown (hip), Joe Ledley (groin) and striker Gary Hooper (hamstring) are certain to be fit. However, he refused to name which player is struggling to feature. Forward Georgios Samaras and midfielder Kris Commons, both substituted against Aberdeen on Saturday, make the squad. The Greek was taken off at Pittodrie with fatigue while Commons suffered a dead leg. Also in the squad is striker Miku, who missed the Dons match with what Lennon described as a "small procedure." "Two out of three will definitely be fit," said the Celtic manager. "I have a worry over one of them. We will assess him until as late as possible to give him every chance to pass himself fit. "If he is not fit to start then we would hope to have him at least on the subs bench." Left-back Emilio Izaguirre (hamstring), stopper Thomas Rogne (calf) and winger James Forrest (hamstring) remain out. Nervous as **** already!
