our CBs have played well in the last few games, however Swansea never threatened and QPR were just plain **** leaving Cisse by himself 30 metres away from the nearest QPR player, he was by himself with corners aswell. Newcastle will be a different challenge, they have a mobile quick and strong attack and I think our CB and Gazza could get bullied

It's a good point. How we cope against Ba, Cisse and Ben Arfa should give us a better idea of how far we have really come defensively in recent weeks. If we can keep them quiet this weekend, and Suarez and Sterling quiet the following weekend (assuming Suarez plays), then we can start to have some confidence in them at last. But those players are decent players, so I hugely have my doubts.

Think you just mean Saurez for the Liverpool game as he is the only one scoring for them.

Something which he wont be able to do, should he get that fifth yellow in the game before ours (away to Spurs).

He's been on four yellows for ages now. Originally, I didn't have any hope of him getting that fifith yellow in the Spurs game. Assumed he'd get it long before then. But now there's just one more game to go until that one.

Boruc would go, or Gazza out on loan. If Friedel came in, I would say we'd be hard pushed to do a better bit of business this season. He's the best young keeper in the Premiership!

But seriously, he is absolutely class, and a consumate professional who would have a point to prove after being pushed out of Spurs for no other reason than they had to play their more expensive signing. A point to prove to Spurs, as well as a knowledge that dropping out of this division would be akin to the final step down in his career.

    And he's good in Hellboy.

The fact that I'm going to Anfield for that game, makes me want it to happen even more. We would seriously have a chance of winning there if they were without Suarez. And I would love to say I've seen us win at Anfield.

It's not just how good he is, it's also the quality (or lack of it) of the possible replacement. I mean, with Borini injured, who on earth would replace him??!! Shelvey replaced him for the last few minutes vs Wigan and, along with Joe Cole, was probably the most attacking option sitting on Liverpool's bench.

Against Chelsea in the game before, they again had Cole on the bench, as well as Suso, Downing and Assaidi. Against Anzhi, when Suarez was rested, they started Morgan and brought on Pacheco. In the league cup against Swansea, they started a guy called Yesil, who I can safely say I have never heard of in my life.

Yesil has shown a lot at youth level. In the last couple of years he scored 28 goals in 27 games for Germany u17s and u19s, mostly in tournaments, and scored about 60 in 70 for Bayer Leverkusen youth teams. But past Suarez (with Borini injured) they have no-one resembling a striker who has done anything, or even started a game at the professional level. Doesn't mean they couldn't play someone who would have a cracking game against us, but would certainly favour us absolutely hugely.

Surely he won't dive being a card away from suspension, but he could easily have been sent off against Wigan and he is very prone to shocking challenges, so hopefully the Spurs' defenders give him a bit of his own medicine and hit the deck every 5 minutes!

Of course, Suarez could open his mouth again and get another 8 game ban.

That wouldn't be bad either. Particularly because it would probably end up being more of 15 game ban for repeat offence!

I have to say Sterling is overrated IMO! Didn't think he did any more than OK against Sweden. Think Oxo is a much better prospect!

I've seen some from him where I thought there wasn't a great reason for any fuss, some where he looked to have quality. It is the classic case of young English player getting over-hyped though, good thing Liverpool already have him because otherwise if he was at another team they'd probably shell out 30 odd million for him in January.

Agree Mikey. If he played for Saints there wouldn't be the same fuss. He's a prospect but hardly the next Messi!

Of course he'll go and get a hat trick against us now I've said that!

Oxo's got much more experience and is more physically developed though. I think Sterling has got every chance of becoming a regular international, he's already better than Lennon for example.

Think we should pay close attention to the teams playing in the CL this week. Several clubs are on their way out of the group stages so we could go and sign ourselves a tried and tested CB.

Not sure about tried and tested, but wouldn't mind the chappy from Nordsjaelland, Okore, he looks class. Strong, fast, and good with the ball. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of teams were sniffing around him in January though. Probably wouldn't be hugely expensive either.

CB's for me would be out of........

    Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik - Rennes £6 million
Aymen Abdennour - Toulouse £4.5 million
Angelo Ogbonna - Torino £10 million
Douglas - FC Twente £7.5 million

    Just estimates according to http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk
