How do you get tickets for derby matches?

    Hi everyone,

With the scummers :bandit: pretty much back to the championship, I am looking forward to experiencing my very first derby match <ok> I've seen a few on TV, but this will be my first time actually going to the game.

However, I am a little wary about being able to get a ticket. When we were humiliated by Brighton in the FA cup this year, I wasn't able to get a ticket as I hadn't been to three away games prior to that.

Does anybody have any idea what sort of criteria will have to be met in order to get a ticket to the Fratton Park clash with the deckchairs next season?

    Many thanks <badger>

Season Ticket Holders for sure - the 'casuals' will have their usual squabble about being more of a fan than anyone else .............

Great. I'm not a season ticket holder, not through choice but through geographical location, finances and age.

As an 18 year old student living just over an hour away from the park, I am unfortunately only able to make the journey to Fratton occassionally, and therefore have to be a little more selective with which games I make it to.

Don't you dare try and tell me that I am less of a fan becuase I am yet to be a season ticket holder (something I aim to be in the near future) <ok>

So, without the sarcastic answers, does anybody know what the criteria may be for obtaining a derby day ticket?

Jake, best advice I can give is to take up Pompey Blue membership. It is about £40 for adults, £30 for senior (over 60)/young person (17-21) or £20 for junior (16 & under). That way you get priority for all home tickets. As for St Fairies, I suspect it will be regular away supporters followed by ST holders on a first-come basis.

Oh, and don't take any notice about the casual supporter taunts. There are many valid reasons why people can't get to matches. I was a member for several years because my job prevented me getting to every game. This season was the first time I have had a season ticket in the 35 years I have been supporting Pompey. <ok>

That's brilliant, thank you very much. I have been a junior blue since I was 11 (and so was my brother, he was a mascott on the day Jamo kicked a ball that hit one of the mascotts in the face <laugh>), and was planning on renewing my membership next season anyway. As for the St Fairies game, I've got a scummer as a mate who will get me a ticket in the home end (if I get him one for the Fratton clash).

    (q) their usual squabble about being more of a fan than anyone else (q) .............YES that IS the reaction of many when the 'ticket only' signs go up. You'll find it on every ticket-pleading thread on the ol'606, it won't change next season.

Only an hour away ?!?! - try telling that to us 5/600 Isle of Wight Fans who have to cope with a 70 year old Underground Train, the whims of Wightlink and another train journey to make it to our season ticketed seats - but hey, I'm falling into my own 'worthy' trap.......with tongue, very much, in cheek. Lighten up lad........

Jake, simply apply to the Pride park ticket office. I doubt you'll have any trouble.
I'm having a mad half hour.

As I say though, as an 18 year old student, to pay X amount for a season ticket + the price of public transport (or alternatively finding the £3500 for car insurance) is not a financially viable option for me at this time. I am <sorry>

    <laugh> That's quite funny :p

As bad as it sounds, a Citron Saxo :(

I was 17 when I passed my test, turned 18 in January, and admittadly haven'y checked how much it is now. But at the point of passing in September 2010 it was three and a half grand.

I think Saxos are generally expensive to insure due to the nature of the people who buy, and subsequently, crash them, namely 17/18 year old boys who think that 120 on a motorway 'isn't fast enough'. Not forgetting that our age and sex is classed as the most dangerous anyway. I'm on my dads name and I have a 6000 mile a year restriction in my car, and it's still expensive. Luckily I work quite a few hours at Asda.

You mention the phrase "give your lot a pasting". Is this a reference to Ricky Lambert changing his allegiance from pies to pasties ?!

I turned 17 last november and car insurance prices is the reason i'm getting a motorbike first. Done a quote for a Honda nsr 125cc 2001. Came out as £750. As soon as I've got the money for the bike, CBT, clothing and insurance which should be about october, i'll be buzzing around on my bike.
