I thought it had been a little pull back but Deeney was held back for some time! Its a credit to Tory that he didn't fall over and roll around like most would have done..
i thought the ref was brave to make the decision, but from what i understand, and have read, the decision was very correct. Dan did mention that they should have had a penalty at some point, but obviously the ref was in top form and didn't give it.. how refreshing! We did seem to make hard work of the win, but it's not easy against 10...we could have done with another one being sent off . Great to get another 3 points though..and i'm just loving this season!
Did I say that? When was that? I remember thinking that Hogg might have had a shout, but I spoke to him after the game and he said he was clipped but slipped in the act of trying to stay upright. So it was a good call.
Legend - "an extremely famous or notorious person". I think Wooter may just be able to creep into that.... a short career at Watford, miles away from being one of our better or more successful players, but someone fans who saw him during his brief spell will always remember for his entertainment value. Great to watch, frustrating end result. I remember at the time when Graham Taylor dropped him he said it was because you never knew what he was going to do, forwards were running into positions expecting a cross and Wooter would decide to beat his man again! That goal against Norwich though .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoUd6Wc4-Bs Great to watch those goals again, Tommy Smith (Legend), Heidar Helguson (Legend), and the superb Allan Nielsen (Legend!!). Derek Payne, not even a good player so no where near a legend. The only reason I suspect the younger fans (BHD?) can remember his name is because he has been co commentator on 3CR?
As for Saturday. I think the sending off was probably correct in that the player was pulling back Troy Deeney's arm, he was the last man, it was central so was a clear goal scoring opportunity, so the referees are under instruction that is a straight red. However, had it been the other way around I think I would have felt it was harsh. After the sending off Wolves went from 4-4-2 to 4-4-1 so I don't think it made it any easier for us to make goalscoring opportunities apart from the fact we needed a man less at the back. Interesting what BHD said earlier about his chat with Hogg. I sit at the Vic end almost behind the goal, and when that happened it looked a stonewall penalty to me! I thought not giving that may have then had an influence with the sending off decision with the referee.
I completely agree, when I saw Hogg go down I was certain it was a penalty, but when the ref didnt give it, I thought there must be a reason, so decided to ask Hogg and get his view.
I am shocked and disgusted that so called "fans" of Watford FC even question the legendary status of Nordin Wooter. The hair alone is enough for him to be mentioned in the same sentence as Luther Blisset, John Barnes, Heidar Helguson, Tommy Smith, Ross Jenkins etc. Who can also forget the golden boots?! Who else had golden boots?!?! The answer to that is NOBODY. But, what Nordin had above all of these, was the ability to out-do himself. That is a VERY rare quality.
I for one am seriously reconsidering my comments re Mr Wooter on the very grounds mentioned above. A character who probably rarely knew what he was doing- but that type really needed in the game so lets get him in the Hall of Fame.Have to say same for a man called Scullion for all you other elderlies.Sorry Derek Payne, you're still not in the same bracket. Thomas Smith, how could I have left you out ! Theo, if by 'peerless' you mean friendless, I do (vaguely) know one other person. Leonardo, you have to be very wise to agree with me -no need to be bashful about it. I was the lone voice urging the club to reinstate N Ellington(ok,not entirely seriously) ,Scunthorpe bring in a very experienced manager and the first player he recruits ?? You had yer chance Zola, good job that clubs no longer in the same div. In view of some comments here re Sats match,am now on 'Blinkered Fans' alert again.....note the Wolves are appealing wrongful dismissal.
Because you will have the swear filter set to no swearing and the name contains the letters C U N T together and so the filter takes it out. Another mod has flagged it up and Mick (site owner) is looking at it.
Do you think his spell inside has toughened him up so he wouldn't go down because someone is only pulling on his shirt?
I don't think Deeney is one to go down easily anyway..even more so when he is through on goal. I am sure other members of our team would have taken the "fall"|!
wolves appealing Berra`s red card ,be very interesting to see how they get on ,especially after Leeds failed attempt.A few weeks back I was seething as everything was going agin us, now it seems things have gone some way to evening things out. Would be nice if the refs were a little less card happy though ,would prefer to see 11v 11 at ft.
