Neither am I. Did we not hire people who know how to run a business? I think we could offload half the squad if we had to and adjust the books quite comfortably. Whether we'll come back up is another matter. And does the relegation release clause not exist anymore? Or is that just in football manager?

Major investment short term is spinal transplants for a good number of the team.

I would imagine the business model is strongly based on us staying up, QPR does little for the global branding of Tony's businesses from the Championship. The risk is throwing good money after bad, and still failing to stay up. I hope he takes the punt and gambles, but he has to do it very soon indeed. Despite what I think of Redknapp, on the evidence of Saturday a change is essential.

Just thought I'd give some input from a Spurs point of view.

I've noticed that people are wondering how Redknapp would feel about the journeymen at the club and how he'd go about replacing them.
These are the sort of players that he absolutely loves! He uses them as the basis of his side and works more flamboyant and creative types around them.
Hard working, experienced professionals are his meat and drink. The likes of Nelsen, Derry, Ji-Sung and Zamora suit him down to the ground.

Assuming that he takes over, then I'd expect to see him establish a fairly solid core and tell players like Taarabt, Cisse and Hoilett to just go out and enjoy themselves.
He does like the odd wildcard player and he likes to play a very attacking style. As long as you enjoy the odd 4-4 and you don't have a heart condition, then you should be fine.
I think he'd do a very good job for you.

I can see you still respect him; in some ways, do you wish he was still with you, or are you happy he's no longer in charge?

This is exactly my thinking..Just look at what he did with David James, Sol campbell etc at Pompey. these guys were well past thier best and he got them playing great football again. I think i'm right in saying that james was in the England squad again (or considered for it?)

Also i dont agre with a bit that you posted Brix about having to rebuild, replace or what ever "big time". I believe we have the basis of a very decent squad and maybe a top Centre back & a top striker would see us fine.
We have got one of the most talented midfields in the league IMO when they are played correctly and in position. We just lack the cutting edge up front.
Also we dont attack in numbers partly because of MH tactics, but also because the midfield are so scared of giving the ball away and our defence conceding. We cannot defend for s**t.
Rednapp may not be the long term answer but for 18 months he is probably the most credible solution we have short term. This should be reflected in his transfer budget and wages. TBF i dont think HR would want anymore than that
It then frees up our management team to "court" our potential new managers and make the correct choice. They need to decide what style, brand of football we play and actively watch managers who do this across all the worlds leagues. Keeping tabs on Solskjear, Poyet, Sausa et al. We have a scouting network for players, do we have the same for managers? I would hope so.

But back tot he OP. I really cannot see another manager out there who could put up a good fight and get us out of this mess? There's a bloke who goes down Gunnersbury park every Saturday and runs a team quite well. We could give him a try because i fail to see how it can be any worse than what i saw on Saturday!
Of the available managers out there, gotta be HR for this job.
Anyone want Ollie or Colin back now?

He did a very good job for us, but he made his own position untenable, unfortunately.
Firstly he courted the England job just after Levy had patiently sat through all the legal crap that he was facing, backing him all the way and paying for him to have a holiday in Dubai at the end of it.
He then tried to play hardball over a new contract in the summer, bringing in the agent that Rooney used to force Utd's hand over his last pay rise.
That might not have finished off their relationship, but the chairman's mother was extremely ill at the time, ultimately resulting in her death, circumstances which Redknapp was well aware of.
Levy doesn't play nice in negotiations at the best of times, as you probably know, so the whole thing was always going to have one outcome.

In my opinion, Redknapp's main drawbacks as a manager are his love in with the media, his unwillingness to embrace rotation and the way that he seems to freeze out players that aren't in his plans.
He'll get the best out of about 15 or 16 players, but the rest will struggle to even register on his radar.
The claims about him being tactically limited don't ring true for me and his league placings and our Champions League campaign would tend to back that opinion.
4th, 5th and 4th in three full seasons in charge, with fairly limited spending. He did well and is generally regarded well at Spurs, though not with as much affection as Martin Jol.

Redknapp will bring you financial ruin, just like what happened to every other club he managed who arnt certainties to be in the premier league. West Ham, Bournemouth, Portsmouth and my beloved Saints. He spends stupid money on players who arnt worth their keep. Then gives up on projects when it goes tits up. Just my opinion but down at Southampton, many of us wouldnt touch him with a pole that stretches from St Marys to his plush home in sandbanks!
