Good players can play in more than one position - most of ours can't. Roker - I can't see your name on the 'Bruce out' poll - are you going to vote?
Players out of position, no problem. If they are happy and confident, unfortunately, My op, is they are not consulted, just told, go out and do it. Was BRUCE ever played out of position...............THEN AGAIN SIR FERGIE , is a man manager, Bruce is not, IMO.
It takes time to adapt to different positions, some people just can't. What is the point of say the england manager picking a rigt full back from his club where he is brilliant, then playing him left midfield, where everyone moans 'cos he's rubbish. Some players can play or "evolve" into different positions. Right back to left back isn't such a big change, still defending, right back to centre back can be daunting if you've never played in that position. You mentioned henderson, who IMO is playing much better now on the right, and yes he possibly did play some good balls from centre midfield, but players drift around during a match, then go back to their original area and task.
All of our players will be able to do a job in any position you play them in. The thing is to get your players playing in the position they are most effective in. Phil is an example, he has seen off a few attempts to replace him at RB (Halford/Chimbonda) and is doing a good job at LB. However, we all know what happens when he gets up the pitch and is about to put a cross in, he stops and gets the ball on his right foot to cross it. I would guess all the RB's in the premier league know this now and know how to handle it. He should be RB. If, because of injuries you need to cover a position then we can all accept that but I must disagree with you on this one Roker. Strikers are best at striking, defenders at defending etc. There will always be cases where a player is put in a different position and they will be better at it (Thierry Henry in from winger to striker) but in the majority of cases players play, where they play best.
By this logic does this mean Bardo is a good player and Henderson is ****e? The polar opposite of what certain people were saying at the start of the season. Funny.
