Yes, because with that you bring back the atmosphere, it makes football more real again. I'm all for it.
Safe standing, brilliant. Much better atmosphere than some miserable twat you don't want to be next to. They have it in Germany where they turn the terrace into seats and vice versa, so why not here?
People have a herd mentality and if were not properly marshalled then they would all stand in the same place leaving unpopulated areas of terracing - remember the paddocks, packed near the half way line and dwindled away to the corner flags. In addition there are more people under the influence of beer at matches these days and I shudder to think what antics they would get up to if they could run around and jump about. No, I prefer seating - you know who the idiots are and you can keep an eye on them.
Defo bring it back ala the bundesliga. Makes total sense with certain areas standing room only, and makes for a much better atmosphere. I'm not so old I want to sit down at the match. That day will come, but hopefully not for a while yet...
Not here. In Germany fans are educated enough to behave properly, but can you imagine allowing a swarm of drunken, mindlessly baying English oafs to occupy a standing terrace?
the kids could stay in the seats, and behind the goals there could be standing at either end. hillsborough was overcrowding, Bradford was a fire in an old wooden stand(seating) and Hyshel was a brick wall and no policing, so why was all seater stadiums brought in in the first place. There should be long crash barriers with a maximum of 5 ft gap between them. And another is seats can be ripped out, and you still get people standing.
If policed properly I think it could help re-invent the Premier League, would certainly be a step in the direction of giving the game back to the working class people.
You've hit the nail right on the head there Safc. There's no doubt in my mind that compulsory seating has had a sad effect on the atmosphere in most grounds up and down the country. However as i'm now well into my sixty's you'll excuse me if and when i attend my next match at the Sol if i plant my rear end on a seat, the old legs aren't what they used to be.
I'm not against it for those that want it but I will never want to stand a a game again. My old legs couldn't handle it. Lol
