It's official: Adam Cooper ‏@adamcooperf1 #F1 Had it confirmed: Ferrari broke seal on @Felipe1Massa's gearbox so a penalty should result! Ferrari will get away with it, but other teams may not be happy about it.
If the dirty side of the grid is such a handicap, it makes a mockery of quali really. To me, that seems more unfair than Ferrari making the rules work to their advantage.
Hahaha Ferrari trying everything to win this World Title... When will they realise that it's there fault for giving a world class driver Alonso such a poor car!
No. I believe you only have to prove it's damaged if you retired from the previous race and want (need) a free gearbox change.
Sadly for Ferrari its all about results rather than how you get there. I will chuckle a bit when Vettel wins it anyway.
Does anyone know if they are leaving the inside as it is or are they 'cleaning' it up to try to make things fair for those who qualified on even numbers?
It would be weirdly ironic if Hamilton got a bad start due to his grid position and him and Alonso clash at the first corner.
The penalty has been accepted. Alonso will move up to 7th. Poor Felipe. I should be a strategist shouldn't I.
Respect to Ferrari for actually admitting their true intentions. No doubt if Red Bull had done the same thing Horner would have lied about it, as he often does when Seb is favoured over Webber.
For the record, I cannot understand the point of switching a driver over to the clean side of the grid. The run down to the first corner is 1 lap, the race is 56. It surely cannot be that beneficial in the long run.
