The question is, and I don't want to start anything volatile but is it something we expect?

Redbull took Vettel's car and started it from the pit-lane to maximise it's chances, as well as this Webber is moved out of the way and the earliest as soon as Vettel approaches.

Aren't Ferrari trying to maximise their chances?

Why are we going mental over it?

Because of its complete lack of sporting ethics

It's worse with Red Bull 'cos they have three cars to move out of Vettel's way while blocking any rivals. And this happens on a regular basis. I think this is pretty tame from Ferrari, TBH.

    eh?

Everything you mentioned sows the lack of sporting ethics shown by Red Bull & Ferrari?

To make it clear, being sporting is important to me. I'd rather lose by being fair then win by doing something I felt was wrong or manipulative. Sorry, that's just me.

Nothing was said over it though, if they want to do it they can, they are not breaching anything. Let the racing do the talking at the end of the day.

Just because the FIA thinks its okay doesn't mean we can;t have our own opinions on the matter.

If the racing did the talking, all the need for so called 'team tactics' wouldn't be required.

Disappointed in Ferrari if this turns out to be true, but I can't say it surprises me. If Alonso wins the championship, nobody is going to point to this incident as being the defining reason, they'll point to Alonso's form all season.

His form has brought him to this point, so you cannot really par the title off if he wins it this way.

Reliable sources say Ferrari are "considering" it.

    How is it cheating?
But it's no worse than Red Bull demanding the Toro Rosso's out of the way..

    Stats!

In 18 races this season Vettel has retired from two with mechanical issues.
Of the five races he's started from pole, one he retired from and three he won, giving him a 3/4 conversion rate when the car lasts.
This means he has a 67% chance of winning today.

Alonso needs to make up three places to keep the title race alive if Vettel wins. He's done that six times in 16 races this season (excluding Germany where he won from pole, and Spa where he was taken out).

That gives Vettel a 42% chance of winning the championship this evening.

Benson says engineers believe those on dirty side will lose two places, so...

Scenario 1: No gearbox change, Massa(No.2) 8th and Alonso(No.1) 10th after the start
Scenario 2: Gearbox change: Alonso(No.1) 5th and Massa (No.2) 9th after the start

It makes perfect sense to change Massa's gearbox. Other teams may not be happy about it though:

    Thanks Charlie <ok>

@adamcooperf1: #F1 I hear via good source that Ferrari will indeed go for the Massa penalty. All they have to do is break the seal, not change 'box

This is what I was thinking, it doesn't just boost Alonso one place, it could be worth as many as five.

I never said it was. Read my comment properly.

Here is hoping they don't clean up the dirty side of the grid.

What's happening with Sky F1, is't coverage starting at 5?

So do Ferrari have to prove that the gearbox has a fault or not, we seem to have conflicting tweets? And if they don't, do they get charged with bringing the sport into disrepute, which they've undoubtedly done already?

It's cynical, but i'm suprised that you're all suprised about them doing it. It's Ferrari.
