Will he get a good reception on his return next Sunday? If the rumours were true will the players be even more up for the game? Personally I think he should get a warm welcome. He helped to build the foundations for our last two years of success!
I'll give him a round of applause ... he turned this club around, built the foundations of our success, created a winning mentality and gave us an unforgettable day out at Wembley
Cant imagine why any fans would have a reason to boo him, he literally did nothing wrong in terms of management, and got us our first trophy in 30 odd years
I'll be there and will give him a nice round of applause, no hard feelings against him really, think he did well for us overall and he's a decent bloke and decent manager. Want him to go home in tears though.
I think the players who played under pardew might have something to motivate them that bit more like Fonte. Pardew's return will be a benefit to us I feel in a slight way.
They certainly will if those rumours were true! I've got a lot of time for him, he did a great job building the foundations of the team which got us where we are now. Both parties have done better since he left though so no regrets for him or us I'm sure. Should get a good reception.
That's what I hope Rabbit! Can't be a bad thing anyway. They have a game Thursday night but it's at home so I guess he'll save most of the first team for Sunday.
Pardew was almost as effective a scout as he was manager. Some of the signings he made, Lambert in particular were pure strokes of genius. He turned us around and made Adkins job in 2010/11 much easier. He should get nothing but rapturous applause on Sunday. At the same time I hope we give Newcastle a damn good thrashing particularly because my boss is a Toon and has out and out stated that we are relegation fodder since July!
Sure he will get a good reception and I would hope our team play at their peak every game. Gave us a great day at Wembley and the foundations of our team.
I can't make it to the game but I would be very surprised if Pardew got anything other than a warm welcome back to St Marys. He got us going in the right direction and as others have said, signed Rickie for the small sum of £1 million.
I'll be annoyed if he doesn't get a good reception because there's no reason he shouldn't - plus it'd make us look stupid in the likely scenario they win.
Not sure I'd say that Lambert's signing was "genius" to me it was "bloody obvious" to the extent that I suggested Rickie's name as soon as Liebherr took over the club. Basically we signed the best Striker (Lambert) and best midfielder (Hammond) in League 1 at that time. They were the first building blocks and Pardew did well to build the team around them.
That summer was so exciting. After having our squad gutted seeing new quality (for that level) players being brought in was so good. Hammond, Harding, Fonte, Jaidi and Connolly were great signings and I was so thrilled when we signed Lambert, knew he would be a great goalscorer at that level, but he's massively exceeded my expectations. We owe a lot to Pardew for identifying those targets and he's done a similar job at Newcastle, brought in good players relatively cheaply, he must have some brilliant scouts in his phonebook. That's one area where he is definitely better than Adkins, I wonder who he would bring in now if he was still here. Someone should collar him at St Mary's and extract this information from him through any means necessary
It's not only us...Lambert owes a lot to Pardew. He'd been a good striker swishing around for years getting nowhere...now three years later he's playing in the PL and, though unlikely, a consideration for an England shirt. Talking of that, he said his main aim is playing well for Saints and doesn't think he will get a call up. Then he added how proud he would be if he even got one England cap...bless!
