I know there is a thread made by one of the Saints lads kicking around on here, but I thought it would be good to gage how close/far apart us fans are on how we want us to line up at the moment.

Also be good to get a thread going about something other than our current short comings <ok>

So what would your side be for the Southampton game, starting 11, formations and subs bench. You can only use players that are fit and available (basically imagine Pardew has been told to put his feet up for the weekend and you've been drafted in for one game only).

    I'd go:

    Krul

    Santon Taylor Bigi Fergie

    Anita Tiote

    Obertan Ben Arfa Demba

    Cisse

So 4-2-3-1 for me, I know Bigi is at CB but Williamson is a problem player for us at the moment. Bigi is quick, strong and very composed on the ball for a young lad, he'd also provide some much needed pace at the back. I'm not saying this is his position long term, he's most definitely a CM but for one game I think it would be good to try a different option.

Got two attacking full backs and Ben Arfa in the "number 10" role. It's a very attacking line up, but the fact is Southampton are poor at the back and our best chance of winning is therefore to get at them. We'd also have pace at the back so could play a high line against a slow Lambert up top for them.

I guess this is a mini match thread, obviously not a patch on Albert's usual flawless match day threads (keep up the good work mate)!

Subs: Elliott, Williamson, Sammy, Shola, Marveaux, Simpson, Campbell (if fit).

I agree with you but Pardew has lost the plot and will play the same ****e like Shola and Sammy and employ the same tactics and formations he has all season.

I said we would lose the last two games based on his approach this season and I'm saying it now- we will lose at Southampton.

Predicting that we'll lose games and being proved right is nothing to gloat about mate. Anyhow this thread isn't about the Silver Fox, it's about what us (the fans) deem our best 18 to be for our next league game.

Is there actually NO up and coming defenders for us atm? I don't know if Williamson is letting pardew tap his wife for a place in the XI but unless she's Michelle Keegan and we get to see videos at some point it aint worth it! I honestly think he's worse the Boumsong, Bramble, Campbell (in his time at us) and possibly even Cacapa. If he were still here i'd start John Karelse over Mike atm, keeper or not! Will Perch be fit by then? There was a pic of him training on friday (I think), He could be a real saviour if so!!

I feel for Williamson to be honest, he always gives 100% and you can tell how much he wants to be a success here when you hear him talk about the club. Unfortunately he's just not up to scratch. Not sure about Perch's fitness, but if he's available I'd play him instead of Bigi at the back.

On the subject of Perch he's my favourite player these days, he knows his limitations so he wins the ball back, and plays it simple. Again like Williamson he never fails to give less than 100% and you can genuinely tell he feels privileged to play for us.

What has become of Remi Streete, is he not an up and coming centre back?

Williamson's an ex-Saint so if you play him, he's guaranteed to score against us. Every other one of our ex players does.

We seem to be blessed with the same curse mate! Bellamy, N'Zogbia, Nolan, Hamann, even Bramble's scored against us <laugh>

You seriously don't have to worry about Williamson scoring though, our set plays can at best be described as "a work in progress". Will Pardew be well received down there?

With our defence I'm worried about Tim Krul bagging a couple so Williamson is definitely a threat..!

Pardew should be well received, hopefully. Didn't ever do anything bad with us, we were all shocked when he was sacked (and none of us to this day really know why). That said, we have a whole bunch of moron fans so who knows?

Good is away with the Aussies at some youth tournament.

Obertan is injured apparently so we have more selection problems. Jonas and cisse shoul be back. Hope cabaye isn't out too long, but might need groin surgery. Gutting If he does. Doesn't leave us with many options really. Glad Colo will be back for stoke game, but for Southampton we will get to watch Williamson punt his balls forward that ultimately do nothing but comcede possesion. Marv or Sami might start but of he sticks to 442 then he will prob just stick Anita in next to tiote that will be the only change we will see.

He does seem a good guy but as you say he just doesn't cut it at this level! I dont want rid of him I dont mind him playing in europe or the cup as he add's experience but we should have better players then him ready to step in, its part Pards fault aswell IMO, He's SO predictable, He always boots it up field and has the positional sense of an odd tetris block!

I love perch aswell, He has the same attitude as Williamson but is a good player aswell!

Worried a little about your pace up top, but our front four of Lambert, Lallana, Ramirez and Puncheon will cause your back line problems. Could be a high scoring game! We may have just turned a corner and will be full of confidence this weekend. Whatever happens it should be an entertaining game!

Can't be any worse than our last two home games. At least there isn't as much disgrace in getting beat away.

I'm down for it so I hope we manage a win, it always makes the journey home that much better.

I disagree on the basis others have agued with me when I predicted all this based on performances prior to the West Ham game mate. I'm basically right about everything and people wont accept it and it pisses me off.

I did say I would go with your side also - I'm saying it now Sammy is not a team player and is not good enough nor id Ferguson (yet) while I dont rate Obertan he's better than both and Ben Arfa can cross when he plays on the left and cant on the right--- Pards fails to realise this and its basic.

Ben Arfa always has to come in on his left to cross or shoot and teams have simply worked us out. He could even play Obertan Ba and Ben Arfa further up tops but we never try anything new and exciting!!! he needs to make drastic changes to the way we play, formation, player positions and substitutions and I'm hopeful he will habving learned from the persistant arrogance that cost him his job at West Ham.

The typical desperate act from someone with a mouses cock!!!

I all seriousness I have been right about most observations I've ever made in my life, however when I'm wrong I'll always hold may hands up.

The last time I was wrong was when I decided to wear cream jeans on a golf course and **** myself.
