Itâs interesting to see how the table is panning out after 17 games with some highly fancied teams like Wolves and Bolton struggling in the bottom half. I would have also expected teams like Blackpool and Birmingham to be stronger after their showing last season, but managerial changes seem to have affected them adversely. Didnât some myopic pundit tip Leeds to win this league and now they face a desperate game against in form Millwall that could define the rest of their season. Crystal Palace are the surprise package so far, but teams with a positive attacking style (like Norwich and Southamton) are usually rewarded in this division. Iâm a bit worried that Blackburn seem to be pacing themselves very well. Leicester are looking dangerous and as a wild card Zola now seems to be finding his feet at Watford and with all of their foreign imports they are an unpredictable quantity. As for us Iâm well happy that Bruceâs learning curve has been allowed to happen with City mostly in the top six. Weâre in a great position to kick on in the new year and with a few considered signings from the boss in January we might just be challenging for the top two spots come the end of the season.
I would bet on the fact that the Allams WILL back Steve Bruce if he wants to bring anyone in come January ... We Will finish in the Top 6 and we have a decent chance of a top 2 place in my opinion.. Let's give Burnley a good Beating at the KC .
After 17 games last season READING had just 21 points. When we won there in January Reading were only about 10th place. We know what happened in the end. I fully expect the Alams to back Steve Bruce in January. The PL money is out there just waiting to be taken by those who succeed. As for Burnley they lost at home to Charlton of all teams saturday. What a crazy league this championship is indeed.
I couldn't be happier with our start, I like the 3 points or nothing attitude Bruce has installed into the side. Now we don't fear teams, we go for the win, or lose trying. I didn't expect us to be 4th place at this point in the Season at all. UTT!
They also backed him and got Quinn, Aluko and Elmo. I still fancy Leicester to win the league, they have top manager and plently of resources. The only thing that will stop them is if the owners lose the plot and sack him.
Your point is? He also brought in Quinn, Aluko, Faye and Elmo. I also wouldn't write Proschwitz off as a dud signing yet anyway. As for the rest of the season, I stand by the fact that at the moment we look good enough for the play offs but not quite the top 2. When we've played the pace setters (Cardiff, Leicester, Boro) we've fallen short and seem to lack that bit of quality they have. However, if we add to the squad in January and beat these teams at home then the top 2 could be a great possibility. If we can finish in the top 6 though I'm sure we'd all be delighted. Still a lot of teams for us to be wary of though, and I wouldn't be suprised to see someone like Wolves, Bolton, Blackpool or Forest come on strongly in the 2nd half of the season.
Proschwitz has scored 2 so far and hasn't really got a chance because of how well Simpson and Aluko play up front. The season is long and Prozz will get his chance. My guess is that he will do fine. 7-9 goals from him
It's obvious, City Aggro is quite clearly saying the Allams have already supported Brucie and will do so again. He's saying that if Brucie wants something, the Allams deliver. Happy days.
I tipped Leicester to win the Championship, Cardiff are always up there & will finish second. Boro and us around the same. 3rd and 4th.. Palace pulled off a masterstroke getting Holloway, he needed a new challenge & if they keep Zaha in january they might stay challenge although I still suspect a wobble, do they have a strong squad? 5th/6th for them. 6th? Forest & Hudders have financial backers, they're currently inconsistent but may buy in January to sustain their push. Blackburn will be a danger. After that I think Bolton & Wolves have too much to do and they're not as good as some think.
City have to learn to finish teams off when leading 3 - 0, instead of taking their feet off of their throats, and letting them get up,dust themselves off, and have another go at us. City lack the Killer instinct to be successful.
Extending Meyler's loan till the end of the season, Hobbs returning and bringing in a striker in january should mean City will be there or thereabouts come May
