Yes just noticed that on the Sky replay, he made two good saves in that area where KD has been vulnerable.

Trying to find what went wrong for their goal, Solent said Lala was at fault at the time but looking at the replay he may been expected to have got goal side of Hoylet, in which case he could be faulted, but also in the same move Yosh either slipped or was pushed over, maybe Gazza was expecting him to clear the ball, but for whatever reason he was in no-mans land and in no position to prevent the goal. Something he will no doubt learn as time goes by. Trouble is in the Premier you will always get punished for errors like that.

It was quite funny hearing them turn on the QPR side though.

Having seen Match of the Day I now feel we should drop Gazzaniga simply because of his appalling hair!

Davis played 4 lost 4 conceeded 14 goals (against manu, city and arse though)
Boruc played 2 lost 2 conceeded 6 goals
    Gazza played 6 won 2 lost 2 drew 2 conceeded 10

draw what you want from that but we conceed less goals with Gazza and actually win points

Our Back 4 is quality and should play together for the rest of the season. Gazza hasn't impressed me with anything other than his time wasting, reflexes and distribution, he is poor one on one, positionally, and at making the decision to come out or not. In the first half he rushed outside of his box when Cisse was only metres from the ball, fortunately cisse was offside and Yoshida would have cleaned up anyway, but Gazza would never have got to that ball. QPR's goal was like the goal we scored against Watford when Kuszak deputised, and perhaps Gazza should be playing against Watford for a season before he tries his hand at premier league football again. He probably has the potential to cut it but right now he doesn't have the technique to withstand the pressure of the premier league. Boruc on the other hand moves like a keeper and should start behind our back for the rest of the season imo.

I don't think criticism of our back 4 is at all merited, we have not been in disarray, instead it has been silly individual mistakes that have been our undoing. Now that our whole team has started to settle the silly mistakes will stop and so will many of the goals.

Still not sure about Boruc, If he is the main man why isn't he even on the bench?

That equates to 3.5 for Davis
    .......................3 for Boruc
    .......................1.66 for Gazza per Game.

Either way you look at the above figures it does not look good reading!!

For those that love statistics would it not be a good Idea to mention also with each goalkeepers tally...How many goals were actually conceded from goalkeeping errors? I would include bad distribution in that as well as poor positioning.
It just might throw a different prospective on things........

I think for the same reason that Gazza wasn't on the bench. Partly courtesy and a bit of loyalty to Kelv, keeping him involved in the squad etc. rather than completely out in the cold, and because out of the three keepers, if there was one you wanted coming on in a crunch situation when we need experience and a calm head after a sending off or injury to the starting keeper... it would probably be Davis.

I personally would still be happy to see any of the three in goal at the moment. Gazza has been very suspect in the last two games, but he's technically gifted and we're doing well at the moment as a team and defensively so we might not want to change that. Boruc on his day is a world class keeper, but he's a bit of a nutter and who knows when 'his day' is, five years ago? Then SKD had a few worrying moments early in the season, but he's still done well for us over the years and has to be a respected and experienced head in the dressing room and on the pitch, and I think if he came back into the team he'd be hungry to earn back his place. Gun to my head if there was one man out of the three I would want to be in goal when we really needed a big save or a big game, I'd take Davis... But all three have their good and bad points so I will defer to the wise man Nigel on this one! ;)

As for the back four, I think at the moment it's changed from 'we're stuck with this lot til January' to 'please can we stick with this lot til January!'. Shaw has added a vital balance so far, him and Clyne are looking like top full-backs, Fonte and Yoshida seem to be settling in a bit, even back to the West Brom game you can hardly fault their performances much, Yoshida had a bad moment against Swansea, but as a whole looking more confident and comfortable. It's only been a couple of games, and Swansea and QPR weren't exactly on top form and piling on the pressure, but a marked improvement at the moment. Long may it continue.

For a large part of this season we haven't had our first choice defence. Yoshida not only had to get used to playing in the Premier League, he was played out of position in a couple of games. We'd lost one of our best midfielders in Cork and our most expensive player missed gaining experience in several games. The Swansea and QPR games revealed how much better we are now we have the full team, which also shows we lack depth. Not saying we should be midtable, but I think we are at least 2-3 points below where we should be. Now is the time to get points on the board.

I can't wait for Luke Shaw to get strong enough to play 90 minutes. I think that would make a difference if we're trying to close a game down. Fox did OK yesterday but it was against a knackered winger, and we know how he goes walkabout upfield and gets caught, or wanders in towards Yoshida and let's the winger in behind.

Just a point on SKD, he might have let all those goals in but he did save 2 penalties!

Agree with that I think I said 12 points from our first 12 games. So we are probably a win a d a draw away from where we should be. Arguably that was Man U and Swansea at home. A win next week and we are right back on track!

What we need is Gazzas distribution, Boruc's handling and diving/ reflexes and SKD's presence and positioning. That would be a tidy combo to have!

As has been mentioned, I put this "improvement" down to the quality of opposition (and, to a lesser extent, Cork's return) rather than an actual improvement. At the end of the day, not every team has Van Persie or Jelavic in it.

I'm still not comfortable with the defence, and even less so with Gazzaniga. But against the likes of Swansea and QPR, you don't generally need a particularly special defence.

Think I'd be tempted to go back to Kelvin against Newcastle though (just not Boruc please; he looked unfit, a bit overweight, and just the whole signing of his stunk of desperate, and still does).

QPR's attack (or, well, Cisse) definitely helped. Every time someone looked to get a ball in the box, Cisse was hanging around miles away from a scoring position giving defenders an easy clearance.

And the three of them should fill up the goal nicely.

Last week Mark Hughes got loads of stick for starting Cisse ahead of Mackie. So I was pretty happy to see him persevere.

I may be wrong, but I think we won't see Kelvin start ever again, so it's Boruc or Gazza.
