Puncheon was immense today. Could have easily had a hat trick. You have to give him his due. He looks totally committed to the cause!
Yep aside from the half-volley he was brilliant. If/when there's a poll I'd be surprised if Cork, Shaw, Clyne and Lallana don't get votes, but Punch should have it.
Fair play to the lad, to come back and admit he was wrong after his attitude problems takes a real man. Although you can't help thinking it was a blessing in disguise as it meant he got PL experience which could prove to be vital this season. Hard to chose MOTM though. The last two matches have really showed how much we have missed Cork - especially today he was everywhere on the pitch
Lallana has improved defensively every game, and today he was immense in every area. For me, it's tight between him and Puncheon for MOTM. Also, yeah, Shaw was faultless.
Has to be said I think today's opposition may have motivated Puncheon a bit. If only he cared as much about beating every team. You can really see the difference when he is up for it.
I'd love to hear from those criticizing people for saying Puncheon should be named in the first team this season
I think a lot of people know how much I have disliked Puncheon due to his past actions. I would now like to say how I apologise for being to hasty. He has been a good player for us on our last few games, so well done to him! Well played to him
I've been saying to drop him. I don't think he has played badly, I just think Saints needed to change their shape and be a little more defensive and you can't drop Ramirez or Lallana. Saints needed him today as they were a little hesitant to shoot and Puncheon has never been gunshy. I think Puncheon has gotten better at playing smarter and helping out more defensively. But he is still streaky and still a very attack-minded player. I probably would have subbed him out instead of Ramirez. And I still think there are games he shouldn't start (although I would consider him an asset off the bench). But yeah, fantastic game today and I'm happy to see it. He could have done better on the half-volley but then his goal was extremely well-taken so it evens out. He's worked hard this year.
I disagree he always puts a shift in he has had some dodgy games this season but who hasn't. I think he gives a much better balance to the team than playing jrod or someone out there. He was just too good for qpr today along with lallana on the other side!
My main problem with him this season has been his inability to effect games by attacking, he has shown a good team ethos and a willingness to defend, but today showed that he is an effective offensive weapon. I wanted to see Mayuka but Punch has the team spot and is keeping hold of it
I will judge him next time I see him play Didn't hear a lot about him this week, Saints twitter feed was Puncheon this Puncheon that. Plus he had a good game against Swansea!
Huge pressure on both managers nut Nigel won hands down. Our players showed fight and spirit something QPR clearly don't have. Nigel should take huge credit for that!
