Think he is shading off a little, maybe overplayed. I would have kept him as cover, certainly in preference to Paddy, who's had his day I suspect.
Aye, fair enough - he didn't do much on Saturday. Until we see more of McCourt, no-one can really say what sort of form he's in, either. I hope, if he gets a chance, he'll do more than the last few times he's been given time.
I'm going to look through the gap in my fingers and suggest Benfica 2 Celtic 1 Celtic to take the lead, comedy equaliser then last minute winner from Benfica in a sweeping, cultured move. More plaudits for playing well and the heat turned right up for the Spartak game. I, obviously, hope I'm wrong. Anyone got any particular insight into tomorrow's game? Anyone else had to bribe their children to guarantee all night use of the telly tomorrow (Spartak - Barca early kick off, mind)? I'm more nervous about this one than the Barca away game - we were expected to get hee haw out of Barca but people's expectations have gone up after Spartak away and the two Barca games and I think a lot of people fancy us getting a result. This, alone, makes me nervous - Luisao being back and the quality of player Benfica have in midfield and wide could be too much for us at their gaff. Perhaps, I'm using pessimism as self-defense. I'm pure excited - a point would be a massive success - check what you all thought we'd get in the Big Champions League thread. I'm also unsure about the outcome I want in the other game. Seems obvious that we want Barca to win but we might need a favour off them in the last game - a draw would mean Barca qualify but Spartak get a point on us so I'm a wee bit unsure.
I am very happy for someone to bookmark this and bump it and throw it in my face after a convincing 4-1 victory, by the way EDIT: Actually, if we revert to the old away type, this thread could well be thrown back in my face if we take a 3-0 doing...
BENFICA 3 CELTIC 0 would be incredible playing spartak at CP having already qualified though, what an atmosphere that would be. the atmosphere at CP on a euro night is class as it is, imagine how good it would be without the tension and pressure to win? sadly, i think we'll be in for an edgey evening when spartak come to town. Even more so if they manage a result against Barca
