Hello and welcome to the official match for Saturday’s Barclays Premier League encounter between Liverpool & Wigan Athletic. The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday 17th November 2012 at Anfield with a kick-off time of 3PM. English T.V won’t be showing the game but streams showing the game are posted before & during the game.

    Preview.

Liverpool fans were given a stark illustration of where their club now is in the Premier League hierarchy, and how long it might take to make them title challengers again last Sunday when Brendan Rodgers refused to get carried away with a point at Chelsea, and claimed that just improving on last season's eighth position would be "fantastic". Such relatively low expectations may be difficult to swallow for certain Kop-dwellers who used to watch their side sweep all before them.

But Rodgers was right to highlight the reality of the situation - Liverpool are enduring their worst start to a season for 20 years and are further away from the top of the table than they've been since they last won the title in 1990.

Optimists will point out that the Reds are on a six-match unbeaten run. However, four of those have been draws, and the points tally at this stage of the season is actually three fewer than Roy Hodgson had managed before he was shown the door two seasons ago.

Common sense suggests that Liverpool's American owners won't act so hastily with Rodgers as they try to achieve some stability at Anfield, and although their young manager continues to enjoy the support of the vast majority of the fans, a few more wins would help in the short-term.

Some support for Luis Suarez would also be welcome - the Uruguayan has scored over half of Liverpool's league goals so far this season, and with Fabio Borini injured and Andy Carroll elsewhere, he might have to continue to shoulder the burden of finding the net until the transfer window opens in January at the earliest.

Wigan have actually become a bogey side for Liverpool - their first-ever win at Anfield in March extended the unbeaten run against this weekend's opponents to five matches and, just for once, they aren't spending the pre-Christmas period mired blow the safety line.

Overall form has been patchy but Roberto Martinez's men are in a much stronger position than they usually are at this stage.

With home games against two of the current bottom three - Reading and QPR - coming up in the next three weeks, they have a real opportunity to put clear daylight between themselves and the relegation scrap.

Rather makeshift, compared to your usual efforts, Chris. I'm guessing you're a bit preoccupied with work at the moment. ;)

WRT the game, I hope we get a win, but I could see us drawing this. <doh>

We aren't scoring loads at the moment so, if we do win, I see only a one-goal margin. 1-0 or 2-1, perhaps?

I think we are due a good home performance so I will stick my neck out and say we will cruise to a 4 - 0 win. Missing at least 5 easy chances in the process as usual of course.

    Don't you ever sleep Chris?

this thread should go slightly differently to last weeks gloom fest pre the second half against chelsea.
Pretty sure we will get a win and a clean sheet to boot 2-0.

Somebody on here pointed out that an easy anagram of Terrorwit was 'Error, Twit!" I still think that was pretty funny. The simple ones are still, oftentimes, the best. <ok>

Quite a few people thinking this will be quite cut and dry, despite Wigan being a bit of a bogey side for us, for the past couple of years or so. Also, many are predicting a rare clean sheet, too. I really hope you're all correct. At the end of the day, though, a win is the most important goal. We need to kick on in the league and extend our unbeaten run, whilst improving our win ratio.

JK has posted a decent looking team on another thread, which I wouldn't mind us using. I hope Henderson is utilised, somewhere, today, but I've heard rumours that Shelvey may start. Unfortunately, outside of the Europa league, BR never seems to use both.

Interesting if Rodgers favours Wisdom over Enrique.

We could really do with some one other than Suarez to score today. Preferably twice.
