Its a big improvement in my opinion. The graphics are a lot better, getting rid of the kill streaks and going strictly point streaks changes the game considerably. If I had one negative comment beyond all the game glitches it would be that the challenges are harder to follow. The menu is far more complicated and the challenges are a combination of kill and score ones. Meaning a gun challange is points with the gun rather than kills but some things like scorestreaks (since there are no kill streaks) can be kills while others are score. It makes it a lot harder to know what you need to do in game in order to get the maximum points. I have almost prestige and from what I understand you don't lose all your weapons when you prestige anymore which will be real nice.
Also Zombies is far far better as it is not just defending some building but involves levels and much more movement on your part to survive significant rounds.

I think the graphics are quite poor tbh, I think online is quite decent though, don't like Zombies find it boring and don't enjoy it that much
