We can't get out of the bottom 3 but we can move to within a point of safety if we win, Everton get something at Reading, and Man City and Fulham beat Villa and Sunderland respectively. I'll go for 2-1 Saints, Rickie Lambert and the Morgan Schneiderlin goal machine.
Problem is, teams have a nasty habit of turning up against us. They know they can get an easy three points, especially at their place. So I reckon we'll lose, or snatch a draw from the jaws of victory. Just don't think we have the concentration in us to last it out for 90+ without a serious error of some sort. We're a bit like chum to a shark in that sense. Would be more confident if we were at home, obviously.
It's a team of ex-world class players against a team of players with Championship experience on the whole. Youth v experienced mercenaries. One or more of Mackie, Hoilett, Taarabt, and/or Cisse will score. I hope we will score more. Is no reason we can't - as long as we turn up with the right attitude. I will say, though, if we can't get three points here, I will be scratching my head trying to work out where we can get three points from. As always, would be a complete and utter pleasure to be wrong. My own view is actually not that our defence is the issue - I think we have got to take more chances, and be more imaginative when attacking. We need to stockpile two or three goals asap in a game. 1-0 up does not cut it or even riase my adrenaline - I see it as the equivalent of 0-0, or 0-1!
Don't understand calling players in other teams mercenaries. By their very nature, footballers are mercenaries...few if any play for the club they support.
I`ve a feeling Saints will win 3-1. We`ll score first, and catch them on the counter as they get desperate.
Looking forward to the game tomorrow. Nice to see some positivity floating around. I think its going to be a tight game with 1 mistake deciding the winner. Im hoping we put in the performance like we did against Swansea, minus the defensive howler, and take the game 1-0. I think the clean sheet is coming. Keep the faith! Going for a controversial Lambert peno to win us the game late in the second half! Come on Saints! Time to deliver. Together as one.
Deluded, you won't score 3 past us Chelsea/Arse/Spurs/Everton couldn't so you won't. However i do feel you have a goal in you.
We scored 2 at Man City, 2 against Man Utd. Both teams have vastly better defences than yours. And we didn't have Ramirez in both games. We could score 3 and we are more than capable of scoring twice.
Errr Reading put 3 past you and Swansea put 5 past you. And thus ends the easiest argument I've ever had.
I'm a great believer in calm Betfair markets as an accurate view of the odds of something happening. For tomorrow, Betfair's correct score odds have one or other teams scoring four as more likely (12.2% likelihood) than any individual score up to 3-3. I do hope that sentence makes sense; if not, what I'm saying is that they are saying 4+ is more likely than the likelihood of any one of 0-0, 0-1, 1-0, 1-2 etc, up to 3-3. Other than a goalfest, 1-1 is the most likely at 11.9%. Like others on this thread, I do also believe that whoever scores first has the game. Vin
We've averaged night on 1.5 goals per game (OK, 1.36), so we may well have a goal in us. QPR have managed 0.73 per game. So you may not. Then again, you haven't faced our defence yet! Vin
I really believe we'll actually win this one. I'll be getting up nice and early to watch here (7am K.O.), thank goodness for live streams now we're in the top flight again
