    I have noticed and written on here about the mackems pretentions for fame but it is clear the rest of the world doesn't want to know!

    I shall keep updating this with my own observations , please feel free to add to your own.

    1. The Premier Inn advert shows a view from the window of the quayside hotel and at the end Sunderland doesn't even appear yet Newcastle(the same size letters as London!) , Darlington and Middlesbrough do.

    2. On Discovery , their sponsor Singapore Airways , reports that the wiring on their new Airbus would stretche from London to ..................Newcastle!

    3. Sunderland NEVER appear on the national weather map. Newcastle are there permanently with London , Glasgow , Cardiff ,Birmingham and Belfast!

    4. Sunderland is covered by BBC Radio NEWCASTLE!

    No, Newcastle were on Sky that day, Sunderland weren't there...

    Newcastle just pisses all over Sunderland as a city, in every single fathomable way.

    University
    Nightlife
    Shops
    Bars
    Size
    Shopping centres
    People
    Restaurants
    Cleanliness
    Stadia
    Women
    Transport
    Busy-ness
    Jobs/business
    Attractions
    Culture
    Popularity
    Reputation
    Awareness

    I'm not having a dig at mackems. It's just a fact. When you compare them both, Sunderland is utterly dwarfed by Newcastle.

    I invite anyone to be unbiased and name one thing Sunderland has which is better than the Newcastle counterpart.

    Sad with a hint of obsessed sums up this thread. Newcastle as a city has a bigger reputation so it's expected you'll be "on the map" for premier inn adverts....huge achievement lads <doh>

    Didn't their leaflet for the host bid for the world cup contain pictures from around Newcastle/Gateshead.

    ....but while you're on about it:

    Size:
    Sunderland - 53.1 sq mi (137.46 km2)
    Newcastle - 43.6 sq mi (113 km2)

    Population (2007):
    Sunderland - 280,300
    Newcastle - 273,600

    And as for a lot of Chappaz' list I think a lot of that is Newcastle bias coming through <doh>

    Somebody above listed the fact that Newcastle was bigger in terms of city size. All I'm doing is saying that they're wrong.
