If we are just playing for fourth place,I ask what is the point of playing? Our manager this season and last,are/were,only interested in using the various cup games as a replacement for the Football Combination reserve league. Injuries aside, why can't we try to win something? If West Ham were in the Europa Cup I bet they would go all out trying to win it! Us?............
We're really going to need Lennon on his best game. Vermaelen has struggled at LB so far from what I've seen. With us being so thread bare, we've gotta play to our strengths. I think Bale will struggle against Sagna, so Lennon running at who ever plays LB is key, for me.
Or...the part of the season where everyone was played in position, and the youngsters weren't loaned out en masse.
If Lennon and Defoe are not fit perhaps we should pay three at the back - something like Lloris, Gallas, Caulker, Vertonghen; Walker, Huddlestone, Sandro, Bale; Carroll or Sig; Ade, Dempsey. I can't decide on Gallas v Dawson for this one: Gallas should really be up for arsenal, but Giroud is exactly the sort of player Dawson should be able to deal with.
Spotted this on Goal.com. Should attract a few arguments!!.. If not, who should be there instead and which players should get the chop? Which way is Saturday's crunch match going to go? Arsenal are appealing for people to report any incidences of abuse this weekend, although they didn't specify any particular type - given Howard Webb is the ref, it's probably in their interests to be more specific in case he files complaints against everyone else in the ground...
Given that 4-4-2 ain't happening, we have the choice between 4-2-3-1 not working with Huddlestone and just maybe working with Carroll. So, why not give Carroll a chance? At least he's fast enough to keep up with the game.
Sandro & Dembele works Sandro & Huddlestone and Sandro & Livermore don't work Sandro & Carroll and Sandro & Luongo haven't been used If we're going to go with the unknown and use one of the youngsters, Carroll is better for retaining possession, but Luongo is more likely to get forward. Don't suppose a midfield trio of Sandro, Carroll and Luongo is going to happen, is it?
If our manager really wants to win the Euro Cup,please put out your best team. It's been known to work!!!! I should have told Harry that!
Does any one else remember the last time we went to goons with a novice, inexperienced midfielder? On the day Jamie O'Hara was our best player. I hope AVB has the balls to play young Tom Carrol instead of thud. I'm really dreading going over there tomorrow, no faith in our lot getting a result there. I just hope the players will show the same passion that we will in the stands. C.O.Y.S
