As title suggests! For arsenal would have to say Overhyped: szcesny (would've said verm but he's been slaughtered recently! Have faith in chesny to come back strong though) Underrated: Giroud (would've said Arteta been he's been getting due credit recently)
I wouldn't say Shezza was overhyped, he was playing amazing, but sadly, he's young, and began to get really cocky and comfortable at the job, and his form fell off, just like what's happening to Joe Hart right now.
Overhyped - Koscielney. Our defensive record with him in the team is not good. Underrated - Diaby. Injury problems aside, he's a great player to have in your squad.
and the fact that thebear is a HUGE koscielny hater. but yes he has been poor so far this season. so much worse than vermaelen its unbelievable. oh wait... they've both been ****. anyways... underrated - Gibbs. ever since he got injured we've been conceding lots of goals, most of them from the left hand side of our defence. vermaelen just can't play there, and santos can't defend. would much prefer sagna there with jenks at RB when gibbs is injured. overrated - arteta. controversial, i know. i'm not saying he's a bad player, but i think he gets more credit than he deserves. sure he keeps possession really well and breaks up the play, but song managed to do that while also providing loads of assists and an attacking threat. thats what i'd like to see more from arteta. he needs to move up the field more often and play the killer passes that we know he can. also, as vice-captain, he doesn't seem that vocal...
Gibbs is great. The issue with Song was that he DIDN'T stay back and break up play - hence the 49 goals conceded. Arteta does, and I'd rather he stayed back and did that and provided some solidarity than roamed and started playing further up, leading to more goals being conceded.
Overrated = Koscielny AND Vermaelen. Fact is we wouldn't concede so many goals if they were better players. Underrated = Walcott, Giroud, Gibbs. Jenks isn't underrated. He's quite possible overrated now. People were talking about him keeping Sagna out of the team not long ago. He exploded into the team, but he's had less than 10 good games.
Spooky. There are arguments for a number of other players to fit into each category, but these 2 most definitely top my lists.
Underrated: Rafael/Johnny Evans Overrated: Rooney, think he's absolute class, but it gets blown out of proportion by the media.
Underrated : Gibbs if he was not made out of paper he would be England third best left back. Walcott play the man up front he not Messi but he can score. Overrated : Jack Wilshere still to see what all the hypes about yes he good but you look at a lot of the top young players in the world at at the moment he just good / Vermaelen first season scored a lot of goals you are a defender defend! : most of our squad.
Since Gibbs was injured we've looked toothless in our attacking play down the left hand side as well...
Underrated: Per Mertesacker. Been our best CB by a mile this season, a paragon of excellence and consistency. Overrated: Aaron Ramsey. He's not good enough for us, so stop trying to defend him. The injury happened a long time ago, in comparison, Jack Wilshere only just returned and seems to be the same player he was before, so Ramsey has no excuse now, especially considering his layoff was far shorter.
I dunno Kyle, Ramsey gets plenty of stick from Arsenal fans, and Mertesacker gets plenty of praise. This thread has shown me that fans of other clubs can at least be useful for offering objective opinions on our players. Too many Arsenal fans have their favorites and scapegoats.
