For those who haven't heard, there's currently an exhibition of da Vinci's drawings on view at Ferens Art Gallery. It's the only place they're being exhibited in the North of England and it's already surpassing the Warhol exhibition, with over 1,000 people a day turning up. I've no idea who's running the Ferens Gallery at the moment, but he's doing a hell of a job.
It was a bloke interviewed on Look North, so I assumed it was him. If it turns out to be a some bird, then I apologise unreservedly for any suggestion of Misogyny. Particularly if she's got a nice rack.
Thankfully they didn't interview our local expert: Councillor T. Geraghty (Lab) (Portfolio: Leisure & Culture (Responsible for Youth Services, Sports Development, Culture, Leisure, Libraries)) Probably found he hadn't heard of Da Vinci.
If the Tate had spoken to Brady, I doubt we'd have got a tin of soup, never mind a Warhol exhibition.
I take it you mean Leonardo? Da Vinci simply means Of Vinci, the town where he lived. It's not his surname. For someone who works so much in Italy I imagine you'd be aware that he's referred to purely as Leonardo.
Yes, every ****er I meet in Italy brings up Leonardo, they barely speak about anything else. You don't half come out with some ****e, everybody on this thread know which da Vinci I was talking about, including you.
I thought you meant the company that employs the traffic wardens in Hull. They're called something similar or so I've been told.
I think he's the one in the blue mask. But they don't half look different when they're dishing out tickets. please log in to view this image
I feel BCC has a point. I notice other threads you start, eg Cairneys back.. err to which Cairney do you refer? Or Aluko v Mclean. Who are these people.
Whatever his name, he'd be turning in his grave to see the prices paid for that heap of ordure masquerading as art sold in New York last night. Is the show touring, OLM?
If you had said Leonardo i'd ave first thought of a footballer , then a turtle then a takeaway and then the actor . . but as you said De Vinci i knew exactly who you was on about
I'm not entirely sure why you feel the need to come across as the voice of Italy on here, but for the record, no ****er gives a **** about match fixing in Italy, no ****er cares what the media think of Zlatan(can I call him that or is there are more correct name? More importantly, have you got A-Level Swedish?) and nobody wants to hear any pissy pant 'didn't you know that' posts about topics nobody else gives a flying **** about. I'm sure there's a forum somewhere, catering for English people who want to be Italian, they have ladyboy dating sites for christ sake, so I'm sure someone has though of it. Maybe you could try ... www.ibangonaboutitalianshitthatnootherfuckergivesashitabout.com.
Depends how long he's been in the job. Ferens got the da Vinci following the Queen's previous visit to Ferens a few years back. Totally unsolicited, her Art Curator contacted Ferens to offer them the Da Vinci about a year ago as she was impressed with what she had seen here. Edit: Sorry. To clarify, for the silly ****s. Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, Ireland and the British Dominions beyond the Seas Queen, Defender of the Faith, Duchess of Edinburgh, Countess of Merioneth, Baroness Greenwich, Duke of Lancaster, Lord of Mann, Duke of Normandy, Sovereign of the Most Honourable Order of the Garter, Sovereign of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Sovereign of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, Sovereign of the Most Illustrious Order of Saint Patrick, Sovereign of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Sovereign of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Sovereign of the Distinguished Service Order, Sovereign of the Imperial Service Order, Sovereign of the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India, Sovereign of the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire, Sovereign of the Order of British India, Sovereign of the Indian Order of Merit, Sovereign of the Order of Burma, Sovereign of the Royal Order of Victoria and Albert, Sovereign of the Royal Family Order of King Edward VII, Sovereign of the Order of Merit, Sovereign of the Order of the Companions of Honour, Sovereign of the Royal Victorian Order, Sovereign of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. Or Betty to her Phil.
But that in a nutshell is the problem - people say something wrong because it is what is better known. It reminds me of the time I was mocked by a whole pub during a quiz because I pronounced the answer to a question of 'which British queen led an uprising against the Romans in ad whatever it was' as Boudicca. The ****ing morons saying "it's Bodeaccia you ****" wouldn't have it.
