In an interview with a local paper Dan Burn talks about the prospect of playing in the FA Cup - Yeovil take on Preston today - and also about the benefits of going out on loan. He said:

Really good to see a young player with the right attitude.

I know 1 man does not make a team, but it does not make for good reading when
you look at the above results where our boys are on loan.

And not just last night, the results were similar at the weekend. I think the issue is the one you've made a number of times, rosc - we should be trying to put the lads out to teams in higher Leagues, not those who are struggling at the bottom of lower ones.

I don't know about that. Competitive, first-team experience is all good. The point is that our youngsters are learning. I'm as pleased to see them doing well as the next man (and it's good to see LDV get on the scoresheet again, although sadly I suspect his time has been and gone as far as Fulham is concerned) but maybe the experience of struggling through a difficult time with a team could be something they learn more from than coasting to victory after victory. I'd rather see our boys at a higher level, but the most important thing is first-team action. I'd rather have them playing in league 1 or 2 than sitting on a bench in the Championship as Trotta did when he went to Watford last year. If they're going to sit on a bench or in the reserves, they can do that here.

I agree with Captain here (shocker)

I don't think the league position of a team has anything to do with our players progress, by all means a team that is struggling could benefit our players more than being in a team where they are not worked as much. Stockdale last year impressed in an Ipswich team that couldn't stop leaking goals, therefore he was given plenty of practice out on the pitch as their goal was peppered with shots every game. Kaca also shone in a Watford team that wasn't exactly firing on all cylinders. It is very sad to see a player with the potential of LDV fail to set the world alight. His time most definitely has passed here, with so many forwards ahead of him in the starting order. Who would have thought that when we bought them, Kaca would have turned out so much better?

Think we are having to loan a few players out so that u21 can progress and even get some u18 into the u21 squad to see if the can make the grade.
I guess it's all about getting game time and see who makes it.

Must admit on Saturday against Everton I thought Kacaniklic went missing, especially in the first half, as if he was scared of making a mistake, defensively he was poor, but I guess I can't expect young players to play well every game.

Our loan players fared a bit better this weekend :

Lauri Dalla Valle nother goal in Crew Alexander's 3-2 win

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20190073

Neil Etheridge's Britol Rovers also had a much needed 3-2 win

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20189940

Matthew Briggs unfortunately was in a losing side as Bristol City went down 2-0 away to Birmingham

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20134301

Dan Burn was in the Yeovil side that also got a much needed win, 1-0 at home to Hartlepool

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20189947

Marcus Bettinelli was in goal for Dartford's excellent 2-0 away win against Luton

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20190087

Kerim Frei was an unused sub in Cardiff's 1-0 win against Hull

The reason we loan out players is to get them to full match fitness, which
also will help the host team. In the case of Frei i cannot se this move benefitting
    either the player or us.
I know that we cannot dictate the selection of the Cardiff team, but he seems to be getting
about 15min per game, a bench warmer, something, he could do at the Cottage at a higher level.
Hopefully when this loan spell is over,a loan with another club may bring more match time.

    Pajtim Kasami

My son and I were discussing him just today, in relation to what our midfield line up may be on Sunday. And lo and behold no sooner said than there is news that Jol is likely to put himout on loan (which coincides with our view) -

    http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/fulham-fc/2012/11/14/82029-32232413/

Can't really understand what's gone wrong here but it does all seem to stem from him missing that fatefull penalty, this time last year against Chelsea. I suspect any loan will be short term prior to him moving on in January.

I'd really like to see it work out for him here, I've been impressed whenever he's played. Unfortunately, as he rarely even makes the bench anymore, I can only see him going the same way as Etuhu/Gecov/Riise Jr.

I really want Kasami to make it too, I echo Bandit's thoughts. Although as has been said, it doesn't look like Big Mart has much faith in him any more.

    Neil Etheridge

Neil has decided to stay at Bristol Rovers and help them fight relegation rather than join the Philippines in the Suzuki cup. If he had gone he was liable to miss 6 of Rover's games. In the last Rover's match, Neil let in a soft goal but more than redeemed himself with a string of tremendous saves - the club's 'chatter site' is full of positive comments from fans who unanimously made him MOTM. Sounds as though he may be making the correct decision in staying.

So does anyone think this is a launch pad for him to revive his Fulham career, or is this at best LDV's chance to put himself in the shop window and encourage either Crewe or someone else to take him on when his contract with us runs out? I'd love it to be the former, but can't help thinking it's the latter.

    Kerim Frei

There are reports that Galatasaray are interested in making a move for Kerim on a six-month loan with a possible option to buy clause included in the deal. It's not the first time these rumours have appeared since he opted to play for Turkey and made the first team, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if the young man wasn't tempted. Jol I've no doubt would prefer to keep him (even if it's close at hand but on loan). However, just how much and whether he can convince Kerim could be interesting.

Does anyone know how long a contract we've got him on? If it isn't close to running out, I don't think there's much he can do.
