The "thin" stuff is semantics Mito. When BR says thin (as per recent interview) he means players that are actually any good (future good is irrelevant to saturdays game) and putting them on the pitch will actually do anything for us. Our results show we are thin. Christ our only impact player we've brought on to change games has been Suarez!!! Edit: I have written off this season; before it began as I understood the transition we were in. I don't want to have to write off another two because our owners thought swapping a hunk of cash for our best player is yet again a good deal. It wasn't last time and While I support BR I've yet to see enough expertise in the market to have me comfortable of him doing. so this time. It's the suits that I believe would feck it up.
I would also consider making Suarez captain. But at the moment I cant confidently say his English is good enough. I dont know who Rodgers would appoint atm if Gerrard missed a game. Skrtel and Reina have both done t several times in the past. Lucas could be a fantastic captain. In 2008 City offered £75m for Torres and we said no. That season we were in the title race. But only because of Torres scoring so many goals. With out Torres that second place finish probably would not have happened. This season, if you remove Suarez's role in our games so far we would be in a relegation position. The prize we are competing for is different, but the situations are very similar. I also get the impression Suarez is a very emotional guy. Being rejected by a club he truly loves and fights passionately for for the sake of financial gain could effect him massively. We ow a lot to Suarez for the way he fights for us. You have to remember that footballers are people, not products.
As expected, Rodgers has come out today and said there won't be a bidding war for Luis Suarez as he is not for sale. Even better news - Lucas is back in training. Unlikely to play in the next game but will hopefully be fully fit by the end of the month.
Interesting view on the Suarez to City story from the MEN; "Contrary to stuff being leaked by Liverpool, City have absolutely no interest in Luis Suarez. My take on Liverpool briefing Merseyside press on Suarez is so Rodgers can knock it down at his press conference today. The other possibility is that they want to sell, and have started the auction rolling. Whichever way, the story is nonsense," tweets Manchester Evening News Manchester City reporter Stuart Brennan. EDIT: he posted that tweet BEFORE Rodgers press conference btw.
I totally agre with you guys. it is semantics designed to induce funds out of FSG. however..... be that as it may we are not actually thin on the ground. just cos our england international or our former england international are rubbish and we all knew it before either were bought makes no difference. you are quite right in saying putting them on the pitch, but i think i should add here in the current formation and tactics, will be no good. i am also right in saying loaning out a striekr then complaining about thinness is a bit silly. Dirty, i've also writting off this season but i guess i could say even more than i had done. August 31 was a disaster but i was willing to give us a chance to show what we could do. I thought after may we were in transition yes but right now we are worse than that. So 50mil for suarez... its more than he's worth really, lets be fair. it is. just cos we are down to one player doesn't mean its not more than a good price.... and selling torres was forced on us by torres (apparently, though he now says we don't knwo the full story) the success of said deal was not down to the sale but the aquisition, again, of players we all knew on the day were not good enough. We blew the torres money on carroll and downing... again apparently as club officals claims suarez was coming anyway. you are concerned about rodgers wasting the 50mil.. thats again very fair but if we just stay with all our players and dig in and yet are bottom half whats the point? surely better to sell and hope rather than know wehre we are headed? I nthe end FSG put out a nice letter telling us how they invested in yesil and assaidi and borini... yet all 3 are at best ones for the future and at worst simple cheaper punts. If rodgers won't play assaidi in the league it says something... just like downing he knows in my opinion that how he's lining us up has zero penetration and a winger corssing it is at nothing. rodgers IMO wanted borini left and dempsey right to get in the box on the end of passes from his midfield and full backs. he's got neither but is not changing the style so sterling is filling in.. doing ok but is more comfortable wide and suso is a midfielder playing wide and getting taken off... hardly ideal is it?
Well have word with your fellow blueshite Boots. Man City firmly deny Suarez interest - but I totally trust the Merseyside-based reporters who wrote those stories this morning. Intrigue.@philmcnulty 2 hours ago
McNutty believes City are after Suarez. Phil McNulty ‏@philmcnulty RT: @DTguardian The byline on Daily Express story about Man City wanting Luis Suarez is Paul Joyce. That means one thing: it's true Expand Reply Retweet Favorite
nice conspiracy theories! city reporter say city aint interested so LFC put it out, then lfc can now deny it and have rodgers scotch the rumour as a bad one when in fact it was us that tried to drm up busines... this one would require a modicum of brains at lfc and the evidecne of aug 31 is contrary to that! i love this stuff really, i do. hilarious. how do peopel live and work in the press if this is their sole job?
good news indeed. I hope we got 4-2-3-1 very soon with lucas and allen and just stop expecting gerrard to chase anyone back. push him onto squarez and get assiadi and sterling wide... then bring suso on for gerrard second half... ASAP please brendan
That's not what he says at all. He says that he trusts the author of the story to only print the truth. The truth of what he's been told that is....................... He says in the first tweet that you posted, that he knows City are denying it, but he trust the Merseyside reporters that are running with it & that he's intrigued....
perosnally i'm so glad that we are playing wigan this weekend as dave can easily fill us in on what to do with suarez and cover the match in one discussion with the press... no doubt he'll want two but he is a media whore.
1. first time for everything 2. will the collider have stable whozzits or will we be seeing wigan win? 3. will dave whelan call suarez a name or two in his pre match build up to get attention.
1. True 2. Won't know until the day, close to kick off and I'll be in Manc with the Pole and the Romanian. I'll have to check on my phone 3. Whelan is a complete twat.
