What a great end to what has been a rollercoaster ride of a season with Saints ... Administration , New Owners , Losing 1st Games of the season, Death of St Markus , Sacking of Pardew , Nigel Adkins Appointed, Alex Chamberlain shines in League One , Lee Barnard personal issues, Jason Puncheon Squabble , New signings, Beating Cherries 3 times, Beating Brighton away, Thrashing Oldham 6-0, Adam Lallana signing 3 Year Contract , Lambert scoring his 50th SAINTS GOAL, Sending poor Plymouth back to League 2, 5 Saints players named in NPower Team of the Year, Saints securing 2nd Place .... I may have missed more obvious points and could go on but I wont! What a season tho ... This final weekend of League One action for Southampton F.C & its loyal fans is to face Walsall Football Club. So far looks to be a sell out fixture as lots of people are scrambling to get hold of tickets to this promotion party. So if you wanna join in the party atmosphere ...hurry and get your tickets now as I suspect it WILL BE A SELL OUT!! Saints Fans hope there is not another repeat of the last performance that was displayed at Bescot Stadium where Southampton lost 1-0 even though they had a mass amount of chances to make it a convincing victory but was deny by some fantastic saves by Walsall Goal Keeper, Jimmy Walker. I suspect that Adkins & co will not tolerate any poor / lazy performances Saturday even though Southampton have pretty much secured promotion to the Championship! However this game is not as easy as some Saints Fans expect as Walsall will be fighting for their lives to avoid the drop to League 2, so therefore the Saddlers will go into this game as if it is the FA Cup Final mentality I suspect! For me it was great to see Morgan back from long term injury (even tho he was on the bench) I suspect we could see him play some part in the final game of the campaign. KingslandSFC Thoughts: I expect I will be slated for this but hey ho here I go <peaceedove> ...For me this game is a big one....I am absolutely chuffed to bits for Southampton success and promotion to Championship however being brought up in Walsall, this game could mean my home team could be relegated if the results don't go Walsall's way! So yep mixed feelings from KingslandSFC ... absolutely buzzing at Championship football next season but potential sadness of Relegation (Wierd moment!) as I really need both Posh to smash Daggers heavily and Colchester to beat Bristol Rovers this weekend ..to help avoid my home team from going down!! Therefore I myself will not predict any scores... out of respect for my home team Walsall and my local team Southampton ..even tho a draw would be good if Posh and Colchester help me out Also part of me will be cheering for Bournemouth and hope they can get in the play off ...so come on Bournemouth : We want you up in the Championship with us!!!! Cant wait for this weekend, its going to be amazing atmosphere ... but none of this would have been possible with ST MARKUS & NICOLA CORTESE. So I would encourage you all to give as much credit and show your appreciation to these great guys , one of whom is not with us anymore but his spirit still lives on in St Mary's So ...Thoughts on the scores / your starting XI? How will you be celebrating promotion this weekend at St Mary's through the 90 Mins and after...
great post. i don't mind what the score is in this game, as long as we dont lose 20 - 0 just 1 big party, i am hitting town at 12 o'clock, so come 7 - 8 pm i shall be completely bladdered!
I can't wait for this game. Got my ticket weeks ago and so relieved promotion is secured. I will be disappointed (and surprised) if we lose though. I would expect we will rest any player not 100%. No point in risking Lallana for example if his injury not totally cleared up. Be good to see Morgan given a decent run though. Jaidi may be rested after his herculean efforts of late. The atmosphere will be fantastic from the off though. As for Walsall, I think they will stay up even if they lose. Bristol Rovers can't realistically catch them and Peterborough will beat Daggers.
It will be nice to see Saints perhaps playing a bit more relaxed on Saturday. I think Walsall will have to have a go as they can't just wait to see what happens with the others. Would be nice to see the final game of the season played in a positive manner by both teams. Still I hope too many people don't get banned after the pitch invasion, as sure as eggs is eggs some of them are going to. They will be warned before the game......still they have too make up their own minds will it be worth it just to run on the pitch....and then be ejected and banned? Anyway come on you Saints......It's party time.......
I hope most of the first team are involved as they deserve a game just to enjoy and also to get the fans acclaim even though they'll get it after the match as well! Hope we play with a freedom and put in a good footballing display as the pressure is off, wouldn't surprise me one bit if walsall won though but i wouldn't cry about it as long as huddersfield aint winning 18-0! What would be nice is a good win, promotion and finishing on 90+ points and maybe only being 2 points behind that far and away best team brighton!
Hull Fan Hey guys would like to say well done for nearly getting promoted (i'm sure you will) you been down there too long for a team like Southampton and i will be looking forward to the trip to you wonderful stadium next season and looking forward to beating you there aswell Good luck Against Walsall should be the 3 points to see you promoted
So there is to be a match on Sunday to celebrate the promotion FOC but you have to go down and get a ticket from the ticket office. Season ticket holders are allowed 2. See official site
My 1st post on not606. So first off would like to say hello to one and all. Would also like to say yesterday was absolutely fantastic and was by far the most proudest moment in my Saints supporting years. I'll never forget how quick and far and high Bartosz jumped off from off the bench as soon as that final whistle went!! Brilliant! Sorry about the song Conners! Anyway, back to topic, the only player i want to see start is Aaron Martin. A good prospect who needs as much experience as he can get and i see this game as the ideal opportunity for him. Can't wait for Saturday. Going to get plastered and celebrate til i can't go on any longer!! Where's everyone going before and after the game then?? Any promotion party's being held in any pubs or places anywhere?? POMPEY HERE WE COME!!!
Sunday match is 1st team vs. Gordon Strachan team with some old Saints playing. Free entry but tickets booked in advance. They kept that a secret didn't they.
Yo lads. Quality night last night. I'm looking forward to the massive win on Saturday. 6-0 to a relaxed and comfortable Saints side, please. Lambert X2, Lallana, Connolly, Martin and Schneiderlin. COYS
Saintadam.........Not sure is the answer .........My understanding is you should be able to get them on Saturday. STH have got until Thursday to claim their two tickets is my understanding. Whether you can book them over the phone and pick them up on Saturday I don't know. (went down and took one of my grandsons with me so have already got mine)
By the way, am I right in thinking that runners-up now get some sort of trophy. I'm sure that because the play-off winners get a trophy, the powers that be decided that it's only fair that the second auto place team should have something to show for their efforts. I could have dreamt it, but it would be nice to round off Saturdays celebrations with a presentation.
Nice to see one of KSFC's pre match specials! Sorry KSFC, but I predict that not only will it be party time in the stands but on the pitch aswell!!! 4 - 0 SAINTS By the way, tuck bag will have the usual goodies, plus 4 rolls of gaf tape, to keep you quiet, just in case your team score Anyways, the tuckshop will close at 4pm Sat and reopen for our first home game back in "THE CHAMPIONSHIP"!!! ONWARDS & UPWARDS
Now are you going to wave this time tuck shop......or do I have to start moaning yet again?? Oh by the way improve your aim with the bag of crisps. That lad in front of me has put on about 2 stone this season through eating the crisps you just cannot seem to get into my hands........... By the way hows your stutter? also are you closing early then .....do you really mean 4.o'clock and not 5 ?
though you would enjoy my confession Tuckshop ... All I am saying is ....Darren Byfield & Jon Macken ...watch out
