Like others have said the last time we left the PL it was crushing. It was the only league we had been in for me. This time I would be disappointed but not like last time, especially if we have the same manager and the same academy philosophy. With the parachute payment, I'm not too worried about the money side. We might lose a couple of players. Until the last game of the season (or the math says it will happen) I will believe that we are staying. I hope the players hate the idea of the championship and fight to stay where we are.
If you do drop, I would like to see us make a bid for Ramirez. Allardyce could turn him into a cracking player.
You posted in a few threads and we enjoyed some sensible deabte. Don't revert to being a WUM... no need mate.
I agree with another poster.......If Nigel was to be still at the helm if we got relegated. I think he would keep most of the new squad.......Yes a few would go but probably not the ones you think.. I think to most supporters we were not expecting to be where we are today it is a shade early for us, we had not got the nucleus of the Premier side of the future. Especially in defence as has been proved.
It's a funny one Beddy. Nigel has got some things wrong in his first 10 games in the Premier league. This is only to be expected really, but if this continued and we really looked like going down, then you'd really think about a "Nigel Adkins" to be on the wanted list to take us up. He may not keep us up, but would certainly be the person I'd want next season... it's a little bit of a headbanger.
I don't get the question but thats just me as normal. If at the start of the season we hadn't of spent so much money and we were where we are now then yes relegation would be an acceptable sustainable option, however we spent alot of money on some premier league quality players, we will also go big again in jan so our spending could well be near on 50 million if this is the case then as much as i loved the championship relegation is not an option. On a side note who thinks we would be in a similar position had we not spent so much pre season i for one don't think we'd be any worse off.
He's an attacking midfielder Trixter - He'd get a neck injury from watching the ball fly high up to the forwards!
First and foremost, I would be disappointed if, having had such a great previous 3 seasons to get here, we went back down again straight away. Having said that, if we did, it would not be the end of the world. Like you said in your OP, FLT, the key for me is Cortese's long term commitment. If that remains, I think we are in safe hands and I would enjoy the promotion back again as much as I did this time.
I honestly think you will go down this season. However, I think you're in a good position, in that you are financially stable . Add parachute payments on top of that and I expect you to be promotion favourites next season in the Championship. Out of interest, I wonder what price you would get NOW for betting Saints as Championship winners in 2014? It might [seriously] be worth a punt.
I certainly wouldn't be concerned from the financial point of view. If relegated would have no difficulty recovering what we spent in the Summer and wages would return to Championship level. The sad thing for me would be losing some of our top players, if we want to keep them we have to be in the Prem, particularly as our young players have certainly shown they are good enough to be here (I am sure they will get us above that dotted line soon). We might have a chance of keeping Lallana, but probably not much else. Nigel could certainly do it but it would be a rebuilding job, and I would love us to be here with Morgan, Cork, Lallana, Lambert and the rest of the boys who have dragged us fans kicking and screaming to the Premier League.
I tell you what Devo it might be worth a punt now as we are odds on to go down ...but to stay up is a fairly good rate. Don't write us off yet Buddy just check out our fighting history.
No one is relegated in November. Comes down to which teams are in a false position and can improve. We obviously hope that is us.
