Must admit had forgotten about the Zola/West Ham connection. Still dont believe Zola will ever make it as a manager (hoping that no one finds the record of me saying someone called Taylor would only last a few months when first appointed)
So Leeds will appeal the red card given Saturday. I would have thought that was even more dangerous; a vexatious appeal carries an additional game ban I think. Even Eddie Gray said, "they won't win it." It was a dangerous,two-footed tackle that the player didn't have a hope in hell of getting anywhere close to the ball. I've seen softer red cards not rescinded. I'd be amazed if the FA give this the time of day. The player carried off does not have a break of his tib and fib, but a cracked ankle bone. Not so long to heal, but painful never the less.
Its so hard to be leeds. First the ref doesnt know the rules are different at Elland road, and now the fa enforce the rules. Its hard not to gloat.
Apologies for the crass comment above, that individual likes to goad officials as well and wants them to explain themselves for every decision they make whilst during the game! So going by that we would still be playing Saturdays game now
Al,its not totally clear, but I hope you're not referring to our Head of Moderation . Bit of respect please for Our Spokesman.
Im sorry Al but thats bollocks. It takes 30 secons to issue a card, or give a free kick. The official has plenty of time to explain then, or whilst the free kick is set up. Furthermore my comment was made with reference to this comment by a leeds fan seemingly suggesting that the rules are different for the home team. Ellandback post #62 on the Leeds MT.
If you are going to make snide comments I would prefer you get my title right. There is no head of moderation for the Watford board. Hornette and I are joint Moderators.
Baby Dan/Rant,Honestly, your language is really appalling for a man in your management position. What an example to any youngsters viewing and seeing the responsibilities you're supposed to have. Truth is you bleat virtually every game about the injustices YOUR club suffer(coincidence I'm sure but tend to be the games not won). Just about everything possible went the Orns way on Sat ( obviously the penalty decision had to be wrong!) Not good enough for you tho, still gotta have a 'bit of a larf' about the other club Classy ! Gotta be a case for whoever runs Not 606 to give aspiring Moderators a Maturity test.
Sorry Dan, only just seen your offering re your status. I'm trying to promote you to something higher....you throw it back in my face !
My language is much cleaner than others on this site. Once again, if you dont like it you have the facility to turn swearing off so that you cant see it. There are no rules against it. The only responsibility I have is to make sure there is no racist posts, nothing illegal and to help people out when they ask. As for my bleating, I have complained about the Vydra and Pudil red cards, one of which was fully rescinded and the other had the ban reduced, so there was something wrong with them both. Ellandback was suggesting that the card was wrongfully handed out, but the powers that be have clearly said it was the correct decision. There is a big difference. I actually think the penalty was fair, we got the late winner against Posh for the same infringement. Its not one rule for us and another for them. Regardless of whether we are home or away the rules are the same. Finally, I will be the first to admit when we get a generous decision. If you care to read my first posts about the match I did comment on how unfortunate Leeds were.
Oh dear Nick.... as you like to often point out, it's just banter between two sides that have recently played. By the weekend, it will be pretty much forgotten, and then start up again when we entertain Leeds on the last day of the season - it is how it works. There are such things as bad winners as well as bad losers, but a lot of what has been said is generally just pointing out a few home truths. We know we got lucky with the circumstances, but by no means should it belittle what we did on the day! It doesn't mean we are now an amazing team, whoa re going to beat all and sundry, but also doesn;t mean we can't be hopeful and take confidence into the next game. Leeds don't like losing to someone they feel is inferior, where we often have a small-club mentality, getting one over the 'big guy'. It just so happens that Leeds think they are bigger than their position in the footbal hierarchy suggests - call them a sleeping giant, if you will, and we feel we are a club on the up! A club with their support base, infrastructure etc should be higher, but they are not. With the right owner at Leeds (like we have ourselves), Saturdays fixture could well be a Prem fixture in a few years time... and I wouldn't be displeased with that!
Kev,dont recognise your first sentence. They did get a large leg-up on Sat, but whatever the circumstances still takes some doing to score 6 away from home so credit to 'em. I suspect they'd prefer to be away at the moment anyway looking at home/away records.Cant aspire to be a club of Leeds standing tho, the difference in size of the two places surely enough to determine that.Attendance at ER on Sat low for them, but often a mere 11.000 at the Vicarage these days, not good. My suspicion is that when people cant just accept a good win with grace and feel the need to mock the loser, envy could be at the root of it.Compare Elland with Vicarage ? Would personally have more faith in ambitions of WFC owners if something more definite was said about the now famous East Stand. So many years in that state now, visiting clubs must expect to see a begging bowl. If they're really concerned about image and attracting more to the ground, they've surely gotta do something soon,Stands dont get built in 5 mins. and they're not paying out on transfer fees ! Lux....eh ???
I was waiting for some kind of sarcasm or joke to appear........ reading it I was just like "Wow...... is this guy serious!?" - I think everyone knows that having a 2 man advantage when one of them is down to an injury is quite lucky. - Why pander to Leeds fans? Especially those who have nothing nice to say about us? - "Hornets show some class" I'm only going to speak for myself but I was only posting on the basis that I thought some Leeds fans weren't being very classy in defeat. Man advantages or not we still probably would have gotten the 3 points. I don't know, maybe you're just used to being **** on by "Big club" fans who always expect to win against "little old **** Watford" and say we played **** even when we beat them. I didn't see anyone mocking Leeds attendance except for themselves... it would be quite hypocritical really. Why do something about the East Stand when nobody is going to sit in it? It's already been said we probably want to start averaging 15k and be in the Prem before the stand is addressed. Even that sounds strange to me when you consider that our current situation can hold more than 15k. "Don't pay out on transfer fees"..... no they just give us free class players which Udinese paid for. These owners really are something aren't they...... the cheek!
Yeh and when they get a big match (Cup) which seems to happen more to em than the average, lost revenue cos of a capacity 15,000 (yeh that many!) less than not that many years ago. Take a look at the attendances at my local lot,Reading, now theyre back in the Prem.Similar size town but have a 4 sided stadium.Used to be the underdogs when the two teams met, now Mariappa considers it a promotion to move to them,(hopefully you'll be wrong in the long term Adrian). Not gonna offer to boost attendances as must be somewhere around 95 and not local, but 11,000 crowds some weeks really is poor and suggests the locals are lacking faith. As for the players, MAYBE some of the current lot will stay as permanents...but as far as I know noughts been signed yet and English winter approaches! I would say these owners talk far better than the previous and may have got the club out of a serious mess, but apart from having to pay wages to all these players, which logically theyd be getting anyway if in Italy...I dont see much putting hands in pockets yet.
Nick why put hands in pockets if there is no need . The owners have been clear with their intentions , indeed Nani touched on the fact Gino Pozzo is moving uk side next summer. The "project" has put better quality players than we could afford into our squad ! Whether they play in Watford ,Udinese or Granada they have the same paymaster . Most of the influx are on Udineses`s books so we can save a few Euros whilst trying to manage the club debt.(that I think you will find at the end of the month that Baz really screwed us over in the annual finance reports). We have a future that is bright within the Pozzo trinity , a damn sight better than with any of the last regimes since SEJ. Again at the Forum it was said that any of the "loanees" bar Chalobah will be made permanent staff if the club wishes it. I particularly am loving forestieri`s enthusiam to sign up. Same can be said for Abdi,Vydra and Pudil as well. 4 players I am really enjoying watching(and listening) playing for us , beats the hell out of Forsyth,Dickinson ,buaben, garner etc. Just sit back and enjoy the ride because I think things are going to get a lot better than we have had over the last few years.
