My mum is getting her gallbladder taken out today. <worried> Has anyone any experience of this? I was wondering how long it might take for her to get out of hospital.
Depends on what sort of surgery. If it is keyhole they only make 3 holes with minimum damage and she could be out the next day (or as soon as she comes round if you go NHS!) but if they have to open her up they might keep her in for observation. Both my missus and the mother-in-law have had it done and no long term ill effects. They are supposed to watch the amount of fat they eat as the gall bladder produces what the body needs to break down fats but after a few weeks the other half was back on the normal diet of chocolate and Haribo Starmix! Good luck.
Thanks mate, here's hoping it's keyhole then. She's 66 and already knows that she'll have to reduce her fat intake. That's the fry-ups at my mum's fecked then. Thanks for the info.
