Injury will once again force Alex Bruce to miss out on making his Northern Ireland international debut this week. The defender had been named in Michael OâNeillâs squad to face Azerbaijan in Wednesdayâs World Cup Qualifier, but a knee injury has ruled him out the clash. Itâs the second time Bruce has had to withdraw from duty with Northern Ireland after injury also kept him out of the game against Portugal last month. Ahmed Elmohamady is another set to miss out on playing for his country this week with fitness concerns likely to keep the Egyptian out of their clash with Georgia. http://www.hullcityafc.net//news/ar...ups-november-2012-2-483249.aspx?pageView=full
Testament to elmos ability and character that he's managed to play so often for a good while with a muscle strain and still look a hell of a player. A well deserved rest if he gets one, but we would miss him badly. Better to get it out the way sooner rather than later though incase he aggravates it and it keeps him out longer.
I don't know. We work our players far too hard in this country. I know they have this image of pampered footballers but they're running on empty by the time we get to March every season, it's no wonder we always have a depleted squad by the time it gets to a major tournament. International breaks are boring with no City game, but they're necessary and if anything, they need more chance to rest.
Well more of a rest than the way it works out this week, where there is a midweek international with no time to recover before or after.
I would agree but our players are required to fly to another country play a needless game and then fly back and play an important game 48 hours after. They would get more of a rest if they simply trained here and went to Nandos or played Call of Duty after.
McShane on his way back with a calf strain too.. Would have been better not travelling at all.. http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/article/165/8246126/mcshane-misses-greece-game
