SULLEY Muntari's agent has confirmed the Ghana midfielder will not be signing for Sunderland permanently in the summer - but says there is a "good chance" of defender John Mensah joining the Black Cats. Fabien Piveteau represents both of the on-loan players and says Sunderland have decided Muntari is ââ¬Åtoo expensiveââ¬Â. But Mensah, who will not make the 25 starts that would automatically trigger a permanent deal, has a much better chance of a future at the Stadium of Light. Boss Steve Bruce is planning a major overhaul of his Black Cats squad in the summer after a distressing drop in form since the turn of the year. He wants around eight new players but will opt out of a deal for Muntari, who has been disappointing since leaving Inter Milan for a January loan switch. ââ¬ÅThere is no chance at Sunderland for Sulley. They have decided he is too expensive for Sunderland,ââ¬Â Piveteau told The Journal. ââ¬ÅFor John, there is a good chance (of signing). The situation with him is that if he played 25 games, he would definitely sign for Sunderland but he has only played 18 at the moment.ââ¬Â A tad disapointed with us not going for Muntari, with a pre-season under his belt I think he would of been class for us next season but we move on. As for Mensah unless there is no-one better available I dont think we should sign him due to his injury problems, for me Chris Samba would be a better option
Of the two i would have preferred Muntari and think that ã8m in today's market is reasonable value. Looks like we're in for a summer of disappointments due to penny pinching again.
Good news for me, Muntari got me very excited when he came but he is nothing like the player expected. Dont care what the reason is, we have plenty we make excuses for and dont need anymore, I would send him back now. Dont think its penny pinching welder, to expensive is a polite way of saying you ar crap.
Really wanted Muntari to make it. I think there's an excellent player in there somewhere, but I can't really say it's gonna come now with the little amount of games left. Fair play, off he goes. Not sure about signing Mensah however I'd avoid both of them.
Sounds like a nice way of saying your crap, he has not put the work rate in although there have been a few and i mean a few glimpses of what he could do. If i wanted to sign for a club i would be trying a lot harder than he is. Would not dign Mendah either we need a settled defence next year not an injury prone one.
Muntari simply has not done enough to even warrent a move to us. Lazy , poor passer, poor tackler, he is one of these players who thinks he is better than he realy is, we will be better off without him.
I don't think Muntari ever had any intention of signing permanently and, given his form so far, he can piss off back to Italy now. As for Mensah, if he's relatively cheap, I would sign him as defensive cover. His injuries mean that we can't depend on him to form part of the settled defence we're crying out for but he'd be handy to have on the bench (and as mate for Gyan)
Muntari has showed no interest or form whilst here. A talented player, who frankly appears to think he's above us, and for that reason, he can jog on back to Italy. He should give the wages he conned out of the club to a charity. Such a let down, as we know he's a class player.
Muntari is a class player, but he's not a CM, which is the only chance he's had here till the Wigan game. Mensah is awkward. He desperately needs that operation. No one will sign him until he does. Do we sign him and offer a percetage of his wage while he takes a year out - on the condition that he remains with the club for 3 years after he returns so we recoup the investment? Or does he stay a crock for the rest of his career? The two sides needs to get together and negotiate this one. No doubt he'd be an asset if fit - but do we want that year out?
muntari won't be sighning..... as you can tell i'm devastated, for weeks, no months i have been saying what a talent he is, and is wasted at a club like safc?????????????????? as for mensah, i'm equally gutted......
Muntari hasn't shown us much, so it's "toodle-pip" from me. But Mensa has been pretty good, overall, although I'd drop him as we can't hack all the injuries he picks up.
This is good and bad news for me. Good that Muntari is going back to Inter, he was an absolute waste of space, showed no interest in breaking sweat for the Sunderland cause but happily took the money. Bad that Mensah could be signing. He is a good CD with some limitations, no speed, just not quite big enough to deal with the big rough attackers. His tackling and ability to read the game are great but I fear that if Bruce signs him he will be his first choice CD and we will have a repitition of the poor defence we've had since January owing to Mensah's injuries. I wouldn't mind having him sitting on the bench but only as defensive cover otherwise I rather see him leave.
I can only see him coming to cover, unless we buy I think Turner and Bramble will be first choice, not sure how happy I am with that mind.
muntari doesnt look match fit but iwouldnt sign him,as for mensah its a gamble with his fitness record
.. I completely agree with this, I think he was trying to use us as a 'stepping stone' to a London club come the new season .... don't really think he's done himself any favours in that department. Maybe West Ham will sign him up next year for the championship?! He played absolutely carp the whole time he was on the field against Fulham but the highlight for me had to be that free kick we won on the left hand edge of their box, 2-0 down, promising position, who knows we nick a goal back we might make a game of it (long shot I know but) ... anyway the said free kick taken by Mr Muntari ended up somewhere in row Z in the north Stand. Good riddance I say!
It came straight at me that ****er, then he threw a hissy fit as well! You did it you cock, no point blaming the ball!
