The selfish actions of the FA 10 years ago are still costing AFC Wimbledon now. Any Chelsea fan (or person) that is South West London based will know how much disdain there is for that Franchise, who took the club from Wimbledon and moved it to Milton Keynes and even now refuse to drop the "Dons" which belongs to Wimbledon and has no real meaning or significance to the Franchise. They of course need to beat Cambridge at home but that is likely and it is a horrible and unsavoury situation. No Wimbledon mates of mine want this tie to happen and nor do I really. I've heard from sources at the club they are considering pulling out which would cause huge embarrassment for the FA. If that's the case the media should do as much as possible to generate enough publicity. Maybe just for once the media could put there anti-Chelsea/Jt stories in hold for a day or two and generate enough publicity to ensure a backlash if the game is allowed to go ahead.
I think it should go ahead. What happened was despicable though some would say there was no future for Wimbledon in its old form. Two wrongs don't make a right and tarnishing the cup while foregoing what would probably be a tv game and the chance of a lucrative third round draw isn't necessary imho. Go there, give them hell and play your hearts out knowing 99.9% of football fans are behind you I say.
I agree Watford but at the same time I see the Wimbledon point of view. Paying to go to there as well adds insult to injury. If Wimbledon beat them it would be the greatest day for football since Aguero scored that goal (not in relation to QPR but the title race)
I would love it if Wimbledon beat MK D*ns... It would be one of the greatest days in footie... but will be beaten when we beat dirty Leeds 5-0 at Elland Road!
Couldn't agree more with that sentiment. I've always referred to MK Dons simply as Milton Keynes. They are not the Dons. However, I don't know why the Wimbledon fans would be so against this possible fixture. If they pulled out it would look like they're running scared. They should show some backbone and go and try and beat them. Even if they lose, there'll be no shame in it considering the relative league positions.
It would be great if they could see beyond their loathing of MK and take a huge away support, hopefully aided by a few hundred or even thousand neutrals making some sort of stand. I'd certainly consider going if it doesn't clash with our game.
I live in Milton Keynes (15 minutes away from the stadium )and remember it well, and most people here also didn't want it to happen at all, we got sick of all the local papers pushing it all the time, and full of bloody Pete Winkleman week in and week out while locals really wanted the Milton Keynes City Club to be sorted out, not a whole team just shifted in, it became a big embarassment, and MK has enough of those already . I have only been to the stadium twice to watch them play, both times because RDM had taken over as Manager, and I wanted to see Flo again. I still think this should never have been allowed to happen, but a lot of people got rich off the back of this (of course) and we got an Asda and Ikea thrown in with the deal which we were all supposed to have been impressed by and won over. Didn't work for me, and now its just a huge congestion on match days in a small town which certainly wasn't built to take it, Anyone interested can go and look at this for info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reloca...n_Keynes#The_Milton_Keynes_Stadium_Consortium Should they play, well I can see it being a good match so yes let them sort it out on the pitch once and for all
Bloody good post that mate. Its informing in that it gives an insiders slant on things. MK is an unusual place in that it was built very recently whereas the rest of the towns and Cities in the Country are hundreds of years old. By the way, are you an angel or a devil?
Doubt it. They award the tie to MK and ban AFC Wimbledon from all their comps for a decade. End of story.
