Konman, that's how I see it too, and how I posted in my previous posts regarding this, well said mate couldn't agree more!................
Whats your definition of an illegal war , and God will be my judge not some crack head who has a warped sense of right and wrong OK
30 years ago I was in a far different place, I had been fighting for my country true but more than that I was fighting for my mates around me. Life for me was far more simple, decisions about why we were there were taken by our elders and betters. The local population welcomed us, and thanked us for what we had done. I have no doubt right was on my side. It seems some now think I'm a war criminal, thankfully this is not the view of the overwhelming majority but only a few bitter cranks. As a squaddie, I was called a Welsh bastard by the English, a Fenian bastard by anyone in the forces who new my Irish roots ( I was proud to be considered such), a British bastard by those in Ireland, a Pommie bastard by the Aussies and an English bastard by anyone any where else. Sadly I'm now called an old bastard, bastard seems to be the common denominator. Even now I'd like to see the likes of rubber ball take me and my mates to trial. Would I change anything, not one bit, would I encourage my family to join up, most certainly. Is the freedom of the greatest democracy worth fighting for, to right. Are the likes of rubber ball and his ilk worth fightinfg for? not a jot. I would like to take him and his druggie ilk to Afghan and cut out the middle man, in return we could take the many hard working Afgans who are desperate to come here to replace them.
I don't think we really are privy to know the real reasons behind most wars these days (and probably in the past too), but I think it's unfair to call our service men and women "war criminals".... I have 2 views on our service men and women.... 1) it's their choice to join and serve, so I don't want to hear too much whinging when they do have to go to war.... 2) I have the utmost respect and thanks for what they do... For whatever reason we have ever gone to war - they are just following orders and are from their perspective and understanding are fighting for what's right..... For anyone that has not served and fought, I really don't think they have the right to sit on their ass and judge them... With regards to poppies or what ever way to remember people... everyone suffers at war, absolutely everyone.... How many Germans do you think fought and died and didn't deserve to??? British may well be at fault for a lot of, it not most of the conflict in Ireland, but the Irish have not been 100% clean and angels - I too have Irish family who have been at the rough end of the violence, however also know those who served and lost out there..... so ffs - it the guy doesn't want to wear a poppy so be it.... who cares Remember those from whichever nation or war in your own way and respect others enough to do how they feel. I doesn't matter whether he wore the frickin thing or not!
So two wrongs make a right? Tell that to those who died as a direct result of our actions from the first Gulf War onwards in Iraq (we're responsible for far more deaths there than Saddam was. Officially. Some through biological warfare of our own).
no such thing as an illegal war.....your listening to too many of the PC brigade that would be shot if they refused to fight when the country are in a war..I would gladly be in the firing squad...Bring Back national service and make everyone of age do a couple of years and then perhaps they will realize why we went to the Falklands, gulf and Afghanistan......No such thing as an illegal war....
Treat a lot of people called for Hitler to be appeased, it simply does not work with dictators and terrorists. Sometimes a line in the sand has to be drawn. Democracy and talking things out is far, far better, but sometimes dictators and terrorists will carry on their despicable work. The cause of Irish Republicanism has been carried far further forward by the ballot box than the bomb but I understand that hundreds of years of wrongs are not easily put right and fully support the decision not to wear the poppy. I look forward to the day where there is a democratic United Ireland.
If I was forced to fight in the army I would resist with all my might. Would you happily shoot me for this?
Absolutely i would if you were condemned as a deserter....I would have no choice if ordered by my superiors.
You would have a choice, but that's cool. All the more reason to dodge conscription then, should it come up I've never been a fan of the whole 'do what we say or we'll brutally murder you' thing.
gendros what a load of bull......the fact is britain joined in the attack on two countries who didnt attack the usa or uk,so that makes it illegal and the reasons for this is plain 2 see>>>>>>contracts on oil and it makes me sick 2 see u guys play the fking hero.......ur 2 dull 2 see your being used for reasons in business not peoples well being. 9/11=7/7 = false flag = murder on a major scale ps i hope your not trying 2 say its the taliban bringing in the drugs dude?.....for me its one of two who could be bring it in on the level it is these days since our invasion of afghanistan>>>>its either our own who dont mind fking up the lower end of society who`s buying the brown and funding a war thats costing trillions or we have a major flaw in our borders 2 be allowing so much 2 come through unchecked from trerrorist groups>>>>>>which one is it??? guns for the afghan rebels was a song not sung that long ago by nationlist punk groups when we armed the taliban against invading russian forces>>>who were there for what!!!how times change init
what a tit u are dai u would shoot a fellow man for not wanting 2 die>>>.......how fking old are you two hundred>>>>this is 2012 dude get with it
It's not so much not wanting to die, it's me not believing I should wade into other countries and kill people for having the misfortune of being there at the time.
im sure the eton brigade be first in line 2 shoot a common man wanting 2see his family again>>>>>>>>>>>fat twat winston sitting in a big leather chair smoking a cigar while he gives orders for my forefathers 2 die.........
you don't have a choice as a military man or i would be shot for not obeying orders treat.....If we are at war then i joined up to defend my Queen and country. I took an oath and the queens shilling and at a time of war then all service personnel has a duty to fight, civilians will be protected but if we need more personnel then the queen can order a draft to anyone of age to fight and if you refuse for nothing than you just don't want to you can be imprisoned and in some cases shot...... I was in the Royal Navy for 19 1/2 years and do you know the captain can still hang you from the yard arm if you refuse to obey an order or refuse to fight....
following orders is not an excuse, you'd be held to account for doing such a thing in this day and age. no such thing as an illegal war? i'm assuming you mean the UK has never fought an illegal war?
