Not saying there is any truth, just saying its more talking about a current news item rather than stirring

I guess for now we shouldn't look beyond the end of the season. Micks record of taking teams into the top six speaks for itself so I hope he stays (so long as we are steadily improving) but it could also turn out that he helps us to survive this year and then leaves with his bonus. Things in football can change very quickly so as always, we'll have to wait and see.

I think our time would be far better spent on discussing things on the pitch as opposed to needless speculation on things off it! MM has come in and done really well and yet there are some it seems that can't wait to stick the boot in at every opportunity. We now have a top class manager who has already shown in just one week more tactical nouse than Jewell or keane ever did in their 4 years at the club. Saturday was terrific and MM should definately take the plaudits for his team selection and his presence on the touchline, even his half time team talk obviously worked! Lets just enjoy the new manager and stop speculating on things that are pure speculation!

Is it so unusual for a manager to have some sort of clause written into a contract these days.?

Who is to say that the Irish would want to go back over old ground anyway...

And since then we’ve cancelled the contracts or otherwise offloaded: Jimmy Bullard; Lee Bowyer; Ivar Ingimarsson; Tamas Pris-sodding-skin; David Heally; Damien Delaney and many more. The replacements have been with the wage bill very much in mind hence the mantra from the press about yet another player refusing to come here having discussed terms with Cleggy.

Our next set of accounts will still look shocking wage-wise due to the pay-offs for all those mentioned above (and the rest). But the ongoing monthly wage bill for players that are actually here has been drastically reduced. Whether it’s down to less than 7M I don’t know, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was.

As for MM – if he’s got a clause in his contract that releases him for the RoI job, is it written somewhere that he’s top of the list if Trapps get the sack?

" (considering our entire wage bill is £6m) "

Who is your " source " for this ? That is one of the funniest things I've heard in a LONG time, that literally made me spit my drink all over the computer screen and I still haven't stopped laughing !

Yes we have cancelled players deals etc, some have gone, but let's look into this £6 mill figure and see where we are....

    These are my estimates......

Chopra - He's gonna be on £15k if not more I'd imagine! That = 780,000 for one player............

Martin - we know he's on approx £12k as has been reported several times before. That = 624,000..........

Edwards - Wage cut granted, £7.5k lets say to be generous ( though I think it will be more ) £390,000..........

JET - Coming from Arsenal, he'll be on roughly £10k. Another £520,000..........

For four players, that's £2.31 million.

Are you telling me that that wages for the ENTIRE REST of the squad = £3.69 million! ?!?!

24 players would be on average earning..... 153750 p / year

    weekly wage = 3000.

NO CHANCE hahah your source is ****!!!!!

So what does your " source " believe we're paying N'daw / Higgingbotham / Reo Coker et el! ? Absolutely hilarious! Thanks for making me smile!

I believe Paul Jewell himself said it in a press conference, after the Wolves match, infact its been mentioned on here a few times but posters on here seem to have been oblivious to those discussions....

The £6m figure was before we started spunking cash on loan signings - as San Diego rightly points out... where was that money in the summer?

JWM my dear man I'm sorry I posted a thread about a news story that's come out and which McCarthy himself has commented on in the affirmative. Nothing has come from the FAI but if you think these people don't have discussions behind closed doors then you are either burying your head in the sand like / as naive as a 1970s BBC presenter <laugh> Hear no evil, see no evil <ok>

No Yorkie I just don't see the need to discuss his future when he has only just got here and begun to turn things around. I know he wasn't your choice and every chance you get you just bring negativity into him being here. Portman Road on Saturday was the best it has been for months and now that we finally have a top quality manager who knows what he's doing I think it is time that we all got behind him <ok>

I have to say this does worry me slightly. I noticed that he doesn't use we but they, I know it takes time to settle in to a club but it was definitely something I noticed and perhaps it's his subconcious taking over afterall we did approach him, he didn't apply for the job.

He is doing a great job, I'd like him to stay and take us onwards and upwards, but we can't bury our head in the sand as the budgies did over Lambert <ok>

I really cannot believe I'm hearing this, sorry JWM don't want to get personal after all the stuff gone on in the past but this is one of the most hypocritical things I've heard from you and that's saying alot!!

Sometimes you can over analyse things and I believe that some of you are reading far too much into this. <ok>

We'll see. There was an interesting point that McCarthy brought up about Look East reporting his press conference in a very negative light and using footage of him slouched before the press conference had even started... found that very refreshing. Look East and EADT always put a spin on things, I tend to think if it's on TWTD it's worth discussing.

Exactly the club stumbles from spending too much on players and wages even when we have a decent team and then we go to the other extreme when we need more investment in the team. I think ME has realised this and hence released more for the loans. I just wish he had a bit of forsight rather than going from one extreme to the other!!

Again very hypocritical of you to say, as there is noone on these boards who over analyses things more than you!!!

I thought it was a worthy discussion point, yes maybe to be taken with a pinch of salt but it's not a non story unlike alot that are posted on here!! I also cannot see anyone being overly negative toward McCarthy on here tbh.

Where did I mention anything about PJ (did you not go on about petty point scoring last week)?? You never respond to what people have written, usually some hypocrital nonsence or if someone said something slightly positive about PJ you disagreed withit and now if someone says anything deemed slightly negative against McCarthy you go off on one.

You come accross as someone who tries to take the morale high ground but do you not understand the irony and hypocrasy in the things you say? And why don't you ever respond to a post properly always off point?
