A Good Season?

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by luvgonzo, Nov 12, 2012.

  1. This thread is far too long for me to do catch up reading...

Eighth = yep, would take that. Not over the moon but equaling last season whilst in transition is good enough <ok>

Seventh = Improvement on last season so got to be satisfied considering the above.

Sixth = My pre-season prediction. Would have been tempted to take that prior to the season starting.

Fifth = I'd be very happy with this.

Fourth = over the ****ing moon!

Third = Is it a full moon...?

Second = Where do I collect my lottery winnings...?

    Fist = just ****off!!!! <grr>

Well if the FFP rules are adopted correctly and use capital gearing as a measure on spending, then there will be clubs notably Chelsea and Manchester City that will be hamstrung. If by saying this Manchester United fans are going to get excited and think with City and Chelsea out of the way, they will have a monopoly. They may think again.

They aren't going to have it all their way, they too will be hamstrung. There is two clubs that will not have limitations upon them, and these are self inflicted limitations. These two clubs are Liverpool and Arsenal. Both clubs will be able to go head to head with Manchester United for players. They will also be able by being financially sound beat them to players too.

There is a reason for that. RA wrote off debts of £166 million, when the FFP rules come in and apply capital gearing, he won't be able to do that. Let me explain to you what capital gearing is, If you earn x amount and your expenses add up to 80% of what you earnt, you can only reinvest ( buy players with the remaining 20%).

However, Chelsea are more highly geared than most clubs, their wages to turnover ratio is rather lob-sided. They pay far too much money on wages compared to what they earn in revenue. City are also in the same boat.

Manchester United should be healthy, however their power will be weakened by losing £75 million per annum in interest repayments.

Id be very happy if we got 8th based on what we've seen so far this year and the general quality of the squad.

Obviously as a fan I expect more, but in reality we're not worth any better currently.

Can easily see us finishing 12/13th.

I think the accounts are a bit skewed as they'll include most of the income from their CL win, but none of the expenditure from the summer player trading.

For the record our interest payments are nowhere near £75million so thats United already sitting pretty in Slevins world.

Is it ok to agree with you? <ok> you are right. If Chelsea had taken all their chances in the first half, the match would have been out of sight and there would have been no equaliser. I was surprised how easily they sliced through your midfield. Like butter.

I honestly see you struggling against mid table teams like WBA Sunderland stoke...<ok>

If we'd taken our chances last season we would be in the champions league this season <ok>

But football doesn't work like that.

I see your point but that first half was not just about missed chances by Chelsea . They carved through your midfield and defence at will and it was almost about how many they would score. I think it was lucky you had in Torres someone who just could not score against you even if he had an open goal. Fair dos , you turned it round in the 2nd half but Chelsea were as bad as you were good <ok>
