Don't really want any of the names in that poll, but can't think of someone realistic who would be better. I wonder how many West Brom fans were happy with the appointment of Steve Clarke when it was announced? Maybe we don't need a big name and the expectation that they bring? Saying that, i'd hate for us to do a Wolves and not have someone lined up should / when Hughes is given the boot and having to resort to finding someone already involved with the club.
I was actually going to write an article entitled "bewildered", but I couldn't bring myself to do it. It's the way I feel mate. It's not life and death and it's not as important as family, work or health....but Rangers are a big part of my life and my two sons' lives, especially the younger one. Having listened to all the arguments over the past few weeks, I really can't make up my mind about what would be the best thing to happen. Is Hughes not up to it? Are the players not up to it? Is it a combination of the two? Is it the immense pressure the players are now under that is causing us (and especially Adel) to miss chances that we'd (and he) would usually take? Should we stick with Hughes for the sake of stability? There's no guarantee that a new guy would get us out of this ****. I just don't know any more mate. Bewildered is the best way for me to describe it.
Redknapp is not a tactics man and that is why i dont think hes a good fit for us, he relies on buying players too much. Saying that hed have us attacking and would give the players their belief back so would be better in the short term but hes not a long term option.
Martinez first choice but not really available & he turned down Liverpool in the summer Benitez probably more realistic available option
Benitez is my choice too, out of work and will be given free reign. There isnt a single British manager Id want apart from the ones we obviously cant get like Moyes.
Redknapp has already been sounded out as I stated in a private message to someone on here last week, I'd be surprised if Hughes makes it till Saturday but hey stranger things have happened.
A 28 yo cripple and a soon to be 30yo. No thanks. TF should do a newcastle and ban the manager from buying anyone over 27 and only offer 1 year contracts to anyone over 30. Then that would sort out our personnel problems, no Hulse, SWP, Barton or any other useless player left here clinging onto a fat contract.
Possibly agree re Dawson....but are you mad? I'd take Defoe over any of our strikers and there won't be many to choose from in Jan.
Our problem isnt missing lots of chances (well at least not from the CF), its creating quality chances. Those would be my rules, Newcastle have a young team and can make a profit.
The above two posters echo my sentiments. Since the Stoke game reasons why and how have ran and ran through my mind and have come to no logical conclusion. I am really at a loss as to fully explain it. I feel that I was one of the most positive posters on here for quite a while. But now , even I feel drained. It's become very difficult to even summon up a final rallying cry. Even though deep inside 'The never ever ever give up' still rings true, I feel that we have gone full circle with this episode and we have to move on. That makes sense to me right now mate.
Obvious choice, Patches O'Houlihan. Traore in particular would benefit from dodging wrenches and drinking his own urine.
Strange call there, buddy/ " ....... be surprised if MH makes thru to Saturday?" He's come this far, couldn't see why TF would cut him before Saturday ................ certainly after, I could see.
I too have been told by someone I know who claims to be mates with Beard, that they have been speaking to Redknapp. Of course this could all be bollocks, but the guy I know has no reason to bullshit me.
No one considered Hoddle.....still think he's a quality manager and the best period for Eng in recent times was the Venables / Hoddle period Still like Martinez as best long term bet but best available right now with pedigree is Benitez
Before any of you shoot me down at least hear me out. John Gregory. He did as well as could be hoped for on a limited budget and I still believe the Goons set the mould for what was to come by sacking him after 4-5 games when the team lost heavily precisely because of the immediate aftermath of Ray Jones' death. TF does not have the money to go for the current must have names. Gregory has the connection with the club, the individual ball skills himself to know what to do with the skills of the existing talent and is twice the tactitian that Hughes is. He might be willing to return now that the Goons and Paladini have gone. His teams always set up with a strong CB and CF. The two areas which Hughes ignored totally and which have led us to the predicament we are in. He appreciates that we can't just be a team of fancy dans. Players who work hard with the talents they have and who deserve to play for their attitude, work rate and unwillingness to give up such as Mackie and Hill will always be given the chance in the starting line up.
